Lovely video .. so good to have the memories ... Reg lived there over 70 years. Our dad worked there as a young lad and became a signalman for most of his working life .. he wrote his name and date in a brick just outside the waiting room toilet area and fortunately we managed to get the brick out

What a great story. Have you got a photo of the brick? I’m glad I captured the house just in time.

So sad to see it demolished. At least it could have been saved and put on a heritage line.

I cycle past there and always enjoyed seeing the station. No idea why it had to be demolished.

It was crap and dilapidated. It is on the route of a new proposed line. It needed to be smashed apart and removed so the new line can come through on the best alignment. We can't afford the clog up the country with dilapidated shite just for the titilation of a few railway buffs.

What a shame. I loved that station.

Shame it wasn’t recorded in landscape.
@davidfarron92114 жыл бұрын
It would have been better for the interior filming to be done in landscape to match the rest of the footage and provided a better perspective of scale that the ticket office and rooms was once used for and if there are pictures out there when it was a working ticket office. It was kind of NR to give permission to fly a drone over the land to get some perspective of the old station for future reference. It is a shame that a building with so much history has to be destroyed and could not be salvaged to turn this into a heritage centre as they have done with Ridgemont Station but I suppose the land is needed to allow for modernisation. I’m sure we will see more video footage or photos when the demolition begins.

It's too late. It's already gone. This video was from 23 August 2020. It was demolished a few days after this video.

Very much heartbreaking and aggrieved for this lovely tranquil station, in this tranquil area we will lose apart of the historic resinatating energy from this station its radiance, it is a debilitating and sober few weeks, East west rail is more than important its true in every logical and practical sense, i hope this will be understood and emphised but in this anti proesk railway nation, will this footage be taken out of context, this montage is too portray this once important railway and viewing and remembering Swanbourne railway station. It is sad for us railway infusast and for those who have been graced by beeing there when it was in operation use and have been intreged and in adoration of its radiance, its splendor this railway was far from undesirable or irrelivant, let it be know and resinate out there of the it wonder a captivating sense of how much this railway served all and of course all of its stations in the good old days before this post modern railway age , how very much there was a profounding and monumental acknowledgement, a definitive and astronomical support after closure in 1993, too reinverse this railway called the vasity line, every persevable logal authority has been resolute with shere unmerited collebration and adoration, too get too this point 25 years on, East west rail isnt just any thrown together project, it has been in the planning for 25 years, it has been adaptive coherent well beyhond reality, there is going too be disruption but they have been practical and are using the Exsiting Route, wivout senseless obliteration of miles of trees outside its border, it is very commendable it might not be too everyones fortay but my world it does have every stratigic relevance, it is efficient and sustainable and although there will be disruption, East west rail are engaging and lets be mindful and aware of the cordenated, commendable dedication by East west rail alliance and especially Volkerrail to name the companies, they have gone and pulled of with procision and coordination outstanding decommissioning of the Bletchley flyover work, lets bring the varsity railway back in all its providence and eternal realevence and splendor from west to East from mainline too mainline, linking the two prominent universities Oxford and Cambridge, linking the ecological city Oxford with the technolocal city Milton Keynes and up towards Cambridge, communities this railway will serve and countys it will selve will be unified and will be blessed with the providence of just how much in every poservable way this railway will deliver and create jobs, create surplus and create new opportunities and professions. There can be no argument or plee for any unprofound claim of obligation beyhond recollection, especially as it established already anti Hs2 campaigners will affiliate too inundate this railway but theres a different sense and deep adoration and commendation for the varsity railway line too be reinvesed, eternital adoration before any Hs2 talks, for unlike Hs2, it presence has always been around, mothballed but in exsitance. East west rail isnt obliterating miles outside its borders, it has local support and interest it has more positives than negatives, it will be imsmetal from west to East.

A good record of Swanbourne Station. Unable to be retained due to the heavily dilapidated nature of the structure and it being too close to the line based on the proposed 100mph line speed.
