I remember watching this and checking Roc-A-fella's website afterward to see if they added Wrekonize to the roster but they didn't and not too long afterwards the label split up. Back then they didn't quite realize that freestyle competition ability didn't translate to creating marketable or entertaining music that could sell millions, only a few battle emcees have had successful careers (eminem, eyedea, immortal tech to name a few). that's why Jae Millz was signed off the strength of his battle against Ness from Da Band and still hasn't released an album.

I figured as much, these types of shows where they promise to give a random guy a contract are just for the show. Then they just do the paperwork and write it off as no contract or the 25 grand paid to cancel the contract, something like that. They never intended on giving any of the contestants a real record deal, it was just a gimmick to make the show more interesting and hype up roc a fella.

I still don't see how Wrekonize won. His first round was about equal with Swann. But that last round was abysmal.
