Correction, there are actually eight extant swan species: the Whooper Swan (Cygnus cygnus), the Piper Swan (Cygnus bewickii), the Mute Swan (Olor olor), the Black Swan (Chenopis atratus), the Whistler Swan (Geranochen columbianus), the Trumpeter Swan (Geranochen buccinator), the Black-Headed Swan (Sthenelides melancoryphus), and the Coscoroba Swan (Coscoroba coscoroba).
