Swans new album, The Beggar, released worldwide June 23, 2023 on Young God Records/Mute. Formats include 2X LP, 2CD, as well as download and stream.
“After numerous pandemic-induced cancellations of tours for the previous Swans album leaving meaning, and an apparent bottomless pit of waiting, waiting, waiting, and the strange disorientation that came with this sudden but interminable forced isolation I decided it was time to write songs for a new Swans album and forget about everything else. They came relatively easily, always informed by the suspicion that these could be my last. When I finally was able to travel, songs in hand, to Berlin to work with my friends recording this record, the feeling was akin to the moment in The Wizard of Oz when the film changes from Black and White to Color. Now I’m feeling quite optimistic. My favourite color is pink. I hope you enjoy the album!” - Michael Gira

I saw Michael perform his solo acoustic version of this in Canterbury, UK in November 2022. This one is particular stuck with me even then. It's so mysterious and atmospheric, I love it.

I was there too, my friends actually helped with putting on the show. You could hear a pin drop when Gira sang "Come to me, feed on me"...The Memorious was another highlight for me; following the words was intense, it kinda reminded me of reading about his experiences in the copper mines in his youth.

@@lorenzo3119 1 more thing. A while ago, I used to follow Thor in Twitter. I saw him doing this kind of music with his little neighbor. It was simple and playful. I am sure that Michael can do this so much better than Thor.

Dear Michael. Your music, or your art is greater and richer than everyone else. I'm sure that you are a teacher. You learned how to teach by yourself. So, if you want to feel happy again, I suggest you teach children how to make music. Make new music. but this time, you say nothing and just guide the children. Let them find the lyrics and the music. Just guide them in this path. Please, let the children talk. Thanks.
