Thanks for the video. Used to travel this line a lot when I was stationed at Manorbier in the late 1960s/early 70s. Lot of change. No steel works, lots of track lifted, no Landore shed and much more lineside greenery!! Thanks for bringing back happy memories,

As an ex train spotter I really enjoyed that. I lived in Reading in those days & often travelled into south Wales but not beyond Cardiff. Years later relating to football it was Swansea. Rather different & pleasant scenery further west compared to the valleys that I was more used to. Always found the Welsh people most accommodating & friendly & those I remember who came east to reside just the same. Lovely people.

Thanks for posting! Good memories of often riding this line from Haverfordwest to Swansea and back during the late 80's. I recall the first trip from Swansea to Haverfordwest. After the train stopped at Carmarthen and started moving backwards to continue on, I panicked thinking it was returning to Swansea. Being a clueless teenager I knew nothing of how the rails were set up there.

My father worked that route as a fireman/driver on the steam and then on to the diesel, happy days as a child in and around the Carmarthen loco sheds

Just another aspect I forgot, but I started work at the Signal & Telecommunications Works in Reading & I was involved in producing the semaphore signal lamps, many for the Welsh valley & rural lines, I note there were some still in operation. These we produced from flat tin plate to the finished article. As electrical workings came into play that production was much reduced & into the 1980s the Signal Works in Caversham Road Reading became a figment of history. Great while it all lasted.

Many thanks very much appreciated I used this line many times in the past and it brought back many memories. Now though I can view the route through to Paddington and to Manchester Piccadilly are you going to Milford Avon by any chance.

The first part of this journey to Llanelli is on the Video 125 Heart of Wales but most of that is missing. So good to see that part in its entirety in your video. Many thanks for uploading it used to have many pleasurable journeys through the beautiful Welsh towns and villages by train. Now many of them are gone, will they ever be reinstated I wonder?

Hi RailMart, blessed thanks for this video upload. I have been wanting to see a cab view on KZbin from Swansea to Carmarthen for ages! Just to say, at 23:25, shouldn't this caption read "Pembrey Signal Box" so with the second 'e' and the 'r' swapped round? Many thanks.

At 24:15, that dog looks as if it's gearing itself up for that round-in-circles dance that they do before doing a Number Two. ;-)

Always nice to see semaphores still in use, regardless of upper or lower quadrant. Also nice to see one in the six foot at 23:57, a throwback to the GWR preferring right hand drive on their engines and making it easier for the driver to see.
