The people in my life get bitcoin but their largest missing link to get to the next level is they don’t understand what gives Bitcoin value. Why is bitcoin valuable, outside of the supply and demand or the scarcity? This is the missing link. They question whether bitcoin will replace the dollar in regular trade/transactions. Any suggestions on how to help them? I explain Bitcoin is tied to real physical energy but they still don’t quite see the point or how that is better. Any help would in learning more to explain more fully would be greatly appreciated.

All money is only money because it is accepted as such, whether it’s seashells or the American dollar. The U.S. dollar has 35 trillion in debt behind it. The Bitcoin Act of 2024, S-4912, requires the government of the USA to acquire 1 million Bitcoin in 5 years and to hold it for 20. That means that they’ve accepted it as money, which makes it money. I bought 15K in GBTC (now BTC) about three years ago. The account went up to 21K and stalled out for about a year, so I sold 7.5K to cut my exposure to loss by 50%. Since then, the account has grown to 31K. I'm not touching it and leaving it to my yet to be born grandchildren. If it goes to zero, I only have 7.5K in it. I can afford to lose 7.5K and never miss it.

I've been into Bitcoin since 2014. When I see stupid videos like this and others, that only promise "infinite" upside, I know the next 50-80% reversal is coming. On average there is one every 4 years. I welcome such reversals as a way to wash out the trash and sewage and charlatans return Bitcoin to what it was intended for..... personal liberty.

When valuing crypto BTC is going to go to be store of value of at least 100 Trillion or around one million per BTC. ICP at a minimum will be worth at least more than today's 3 Trillion market Cap of Microsoft which would give it a price of $6,000 per ICP. It will take around 5-10 years for BTC and ICP to be worth one million for BTC and $6k-$10k for ICP. ICP will be worth as much as Microsoft, Google, Apple, and or the market cap of any of the top ten cryptos.

It's not going to infinity.... I used to realy believe this when I first got into BTC. After this US election, I'm more convinced than ever that within this four years term, Trump is going to peg the $ to BTC as it was pegged to gold a while ago. The C in CBDC stands for centralized. Bitcoin is DEcentralized - that's part of what its Proof of Work mining algorithm accomplishes. As long as > 50% of mining hash power don't censor transactions, there will be no direct censorship. And the entire ledger is also available for anyone to download (set up a node). The source code is publicly available and open source, so anyone with the requisite software development knowledge can examine it.
