Bengali version was composed during mid-80s when HE was reigning supreme, masterly orchestrated by probably Babloo Chakraborty with Manohari Singh sprinkling his genius in Saxophone (the opening piece creates a certain mood absent in the hindi version). The hindi version was created when HE was trying to fight back with a declining health, supported by only a handful of true friends, one of them being Rajesh Khanna. Bengali version was perhaps created in 1986 and by then his market was down; this phase provided him some time to rethink and come up with brilliant score in "ekato apon". However, he did not do justice in orchestrization of hindi film (where are emphatic metallic sound, sax, bass guitar) ?

Compared to each the Bengali number is more Harmonic than the Hindi one. Asha Ji's sensuality is awesome, incomparable.SP ji poured his gem at his best.Alka ji's delivery quite sweet and shining.Above all RD,oh my God ! I am internally quacked on his every beat with close eyes as usually feel . Really, he is God given maestro.

2 things to be understood here is .. Bengali version was recorded in 1987 when Pancham had full orchestra and continuous team of arrangers who were part of till 1988/89 after that whole orchestra team was aparted and new assistance were added the sound quality n orchestra instruments declined after 1989 films ... Alka Yagnik sang this song in 1992 when the team was totally different, so that's the main reason, Pancham By pass heart attack was in 1988 which was devastated thing that happened wd Pancham and his Films which were flopped simultaneously

Both versions equally gud but I found Bengali song more sweet. Credit goes to amazing singing by legends Ashaji n SP ji . The khanak is missing in Alkaji's voice. Even orchestration is much much better in Bengali song . Kudos to this wonderful trio 🙌 thanx Swapan ji for sharing this beautiful combo 🌹🌹

I have not heard the bengali version. But this version by Alkaji is certainly beautiful and top notch. I don't understand why people are unnecessarily criticising it. Alka Yagnik is one of the best in decades of Hindi music.

RD had to tone down the orchestration to match the soft voice of Alka Yagnik. Voice range of Asha Bhosle and Kishore Kumar had been of extreme range that allowed RD to use musical instruments of every genre while composing songs sung by these two great singers.

I Haven't Heard The Hindi Version Of Alka Yagnik Dada ! I've 3 Tracks From Sautela Bhai And Felt That They Were A Far Cry From What Panchamda Stands For ! alka yagnik isn't suitable for this song in hindi version, because her voice doesn't have the eligible appeal which this song needs to be...every song isn't for all to sing...sorry to say...but the presentation is really awesome done by you...it would been better if chosen s.janki ji for the hindi version if ashaji's voice isn't producer's pocket friendly...but it's so nice to know that this bengali song has a hindi version also ..thank you

The Hindi version is not sourced from a LP record, it is sourced from a video song and with a below average audio quality. So couldn't improve much on it, and didn't had the time to experiment further. I am also not satisfied with this SQ, but hope the Bengali version is okay though it carries good amount of surface noise of the LP record.

There are minimum 150 pair songs in which same tune Bengali and Hindi version songs. Inspite of that there are more songs in Regional songs in same tune with Bengali and Hindi version.
