I wouldn’t have a use for such a scope, but I appreciated the description and discussion, and especially by someone who is knowledgeable not only about the features of the sight, but also understands the ballistics issues.

I own the Gen 1 version and love it! I have mine atop my Christensen Arms TFR in .338 Lapua with a 300 yd zero. I have taken multiple deer with it from ranges of 300 yds to 920 yds. The shot at 920 was in a 7.5 mph wind 90 degrees to me. I bracketed the 5/10 mph wind hold on the shoulder and hit it in the shoulder! I am buying the Gen 2 model for my High end air rifle in .22 caliber shooting 30 gr slugs at 1,000 fps. Very excited to get my new rifle and scope set up this summer!!!!

I had the Gen I of the DS on a .30-06 Merkel Helix Speedster for a couple of years. Hugely impressive glass/crystal in the optics, sooo clear and som much light, its an absolute treat to use for sure. But, and there are some "buts", it is very heavy. At least too heavy for my liking, as it throws off the balance of the rifle, especially when you run a silencer as well. And i did. So i stopped doing free standing shots, only to transition to using shooting stick or fixed structure. That, and the fact that i was running around with a rifle+optic setup worth +11.000 USD on my shoulder, that changed the way i ended up hunting. And that ended up limiting me, so i have now sold it off and going more traditional, Tikka T3x and a Vortex scope. But for someone looking for an amazing piece of kit, no matter the price and is a more competent standing shooter than me,, i think there is nothing better out there at the moment.

Hahaha you sold your Merkel and Swarovski and got a Tikka and of all scopes a Vortex🤪😜 sorry but that’s hard to believe.

@@NoScade Well that might be hard for you to believe, but nonetheless it is the fact. I mean stranger things have happened in this world,,, Donald trump got elected president, someone is trying to cancel David Chappelle and me, I downgraded my rifle platform and optics. Go figure 😂👍

I still don't get why this scope is dismissed by tactical shooters. They think that in a real world tactical situation they are going to be watching splashes and doing holdovers. Why not put all your money on the first shot on target? With this scope you can deal with a very broad incoming picture. 700 yards to the left, 300 yards to the right. Tactical guys think accuracy is only important up to a point; in my opinion one accurate shot is worth all other considerations and with this scope you can hit targets all over the place if you have trained the hand to eye skill of precision shooting.

How does this compares to Buriss Eliminator? Is there other better variants of optical scopes with ballistics and rangefinders? This scope is seams to be discontinued, not available even at Swarovski page.

Anyone know how to get the scope into imperial unit mode? I selected imperial at the beginning of the app confit but it’s not giving any options for data entry in units other than metric. All the literature says you should be able to do it from the app but I can’t figure it out

Hello, One month ago I have buy ds 5-25x52 ds gen II. I`m really happy with riflescope on day time. But in evening and dark time this riflescope is not possible to use. IT MUST KNOW EWERYONE - SWAROVSKI DS JUST DAY TIME OPTIC! And ones more.... DS gen II very bad working Bluetooth with Android devices. You can one time connect to DS device and transfer dates, each other time you must take out battery before dates transferring. Its absolutely crazy for such expensive device !

I'd love to have one. But it's illegal in Colorado if you hunt it.
@davidgreenapple93972 жыл бұрын
Did not know that VERY important tidbit. CO making it illegal takes all the value out since that's where I would go long distance hunting for Elk. That said, it's still an amazing scope I'd love to have but the price is crazy.

@@davidgreenapple9397 Colorado Parks and Wildlife has decreed that if the rifle or optic has a computer chip in it, it is a "smart rifle". Which is illegal here if you decide to hunt. On the rifle range, it would be fine. Don't even inquire about the MZ laws...
@2012snakeman2 жыл бұрын
Careful buyers, check parks and wildlife laws where you intend to hunt! A friend pointed out and I confirmed and copied verbatim as of May 2020, Colorado Parks Wildlife CPW Chapter W-0 General Provisions for hunting, Article iv, Manner in taking wildlife > Aids in taking... "Smart-Rifles" 1. All firearms used to take or attempt to take wildlife shall be fired only by humanly controlled, manually-operated mechanical triggers. No person shall use a smart rifle to take or attempt to take wildlife. 2. “Smart Rifle” means any firearm that is equipped with one or more of the following: a. A target tracking system; b. An electronically-controlled, electronically-assisted, or computer-linked trigger; c. A ballistics computer. Apparently this isn't the only state that has a similar law. Without checking, getting a $5k scope confiscated or dealing with loss of hunting license isn't worth it. I would like to see this be exempt for disabled hunters though. I guess at what point or where do you draw the line with technology. Advance far enough and you want the gun to hold itself upright and fire "automatically" when it see an animal?? This scope definatley has a place, but I'm not sure if I want something taking or reducing the challenge, experience, or gratification out of a hunt. Maybe if I'm in my 70's and want what I already do to be way easier lol.

Too heavy, and ackward to have on a rifle. While all the benefits are there, but with lighter rifles, this heavy scope over-balences the rifle. A bino with range finder is a more practical option. Plus apps are available for bino's and same accuracy is achievable without the costs and weight. Swarovski also have the turrets for the distance hunter. After holding it in my hand, I opted for the light scope. Just my opinion.. dont be put off by me, it is a excellent scope, maybe the ultimate - no questions there!
@umami02473 жыл бұрын
I don’t agree with you first if your shooting at any range you are using a bi pod or shooting sticks or should be. And the weight of binos is just as heavy and I’m all about less gear is more. The learning curve on this scope is a somewhat interesting but with new tech things change. And it is a bit pricey but what isn’t anymore. And this company is certainly one of the better scope makers out there.
@BlueTJay3 жыл бұрын
@@umami0247 Im sure you are right! Every hunter has binos, its a must. the heavy scope will never double up as a bino and scope. Range finder and scope, yes! So, if i carry the binos, and minimal extra weight for the range finder included, why would i carry the heavy scope. Have you had one in your hand, perhaps mounted on a rifle....? I dont think so... Go and try it out, and then get back to me! My choice, binos with range finder, and a accurate Swarovski scope like the 8i 2-16x50 on my Sako .270, works really well! I love my scope, its amazing. Just saying...
