These guys seem mostly liker self-trained mililtia types. So they probably got their hands on some unclassified tactical manuals and practiced those skills, and developed a plan to use those skills. The main perps uncle was probably a help as he had been a Vietnam Veteran but his knowledge of tactics would have been outdated. An example of book learned versus experience trained is their stack when moving across the lawn. They were clustered together such that a single grenade could kill 3 or 4 simultaneously. Anyone trained in the last couple of decades by an Army Drill Sergeant or a Marine DI would know to space out more to avoid that. That level of rookie training and thinking would make them gravitate towards the "Here's what I will do" mindset of planning.
@grantharriman2842 жыл бұрын
One thing that always bothers me about these shows is the total lack of control for handcuffed suspects. Yeah, you cuffed his hands behind his back, but then you just left him and went further into the house. He could very easily stand up and suicide into one of those grenade traps to take out one or more police officers. This is why in reality they bring a LOT more people, even if they only have 6 SWAT normal cops are following behind to deal with the people in custody.
@wanderlustandsparkle43952 жыл бұрын

You know, when a group of militia rebels wants to take a government official hostage, wouldn't you want to call like the actual army? Granted these guys have military equipment that they probably shouldn't have, but still the National Guard at least would probably be what you want here.
@Hardcover_Pilot2 жыл бұрын
Federal forces would only be deployed in the case of a state's own internal personnel being insufficient or unable to respond to the situation, per Posse Comitatus and the Insurrection Act. The National Guard does not have the training to respond to a situation like this, generally speaking. LAPD SWAT, or any other major city's SWAT team, are trained for this sort of scenario and would be able to respond much faster than any other potential responding team could.
@grantharriman2842 жыл бұрын
SWAT probably have a better chance of getting the hostages out alive. They basically have access to all the same gear short of actual artillery and tanks, and the military really doesn't train for this kind of hostage rescue scenario all that much, whereas SWAT trains for it a TON. Would not be surprised if they were waiting as backup is things escalate though.
@ThatKoreanGamer-r5m2 жыл бұрын
Well most teams like SWAT, including the GSG-9, GIGN and multiple others all have military-like equipment, but are they equipped to deal with such situations so that the military doesn't have to intervene, there would be no point in the military even having to intervene.

@@Hardcover_Pilot Not necessarily, I live 20 minutes away from where a recent terror attack on a mosque in Colleyville, TX happened. Colleyville is a wealthy suburb in DFW, surrounded by large, highly competent, and well-funded police departments. Even the Dallas FBI and ATF field offices have their own SWAT teams available if need be. All that law enforcement here, and they were mostly used to set a perimeter around the mosque while they waited for the FBI's Hostage Rescue Team to fly in from Quantico, VA. (Side note: they arrived in under 5 hours. Not too shabby of a response time considering)

In the USA, the military is forbidden from acting in a law enforcement role unless martial law has been declared by the federal government. For a situation like this, the Californian and LA governments would have to use local law enforcement resources under the law.

Good to know that sonic device works without line of sight and through concrete and solid doors.
@danielhaire66772 жыл бұрын
Read some theories on such devices. The audible part we here isn't what causes the effect. It emits infrasound waves to mess with a person's equilibrium. Also, one of the known features of infrasound is low degradation of the sound when encountering obstacles. Fun scene, but what I read indicated that such devices were still primarily on the drawing board.

@@danielhaire6677 But has this been used in a live situation or are these all untested theories?
@danielhaire66772 жыл бұрын
@@JustSumGuy01 Infrasound has been seen to have real world effects on biological lifeforms. An example is the roar of a tiger which actually has an infrasound component which messes with the equilibrium of its prey. That's why people shake or freeze when a tiger roars. The articles I read on artificial infrasound use indicated laboratory tests of infrasound devices but nothing man-portable as of yet. So, SWAT just came up with a fictional representation of a theoretical device. At least they made it reasonably large as such a new device would be. Too many shows would have such a device be more portable or sleeker.

So why the fuck you're going to have the hostages be by themselves running around the house if just moments before, you and your team identified at least two IED Traps/Trip-Wires? Say they just go through the back door willy-nilly because it's the first out they find. Boom. Running through the hall, don't see the trip-wire in the hall? Boom. Should've had a SWAT escort them through the house safely and try to keep them calm and collected before they screw themselves or one of your team members up.

Most new scopes have that equipment built in. Which yes swat has the latest. Not 15 year old range equipment. But actual marksmen, sharpshooters and snipers mount that b on the side. Keeping the full view in the scope. But it gets even better. Most swat guys don’t use that scope. Your shooting 0-50. You don’t f need it. Also, you got a shooter with a 308! Your arse is working across the ground on your belly. San Jose swat is the master at dealing with this type of shooter. Because the shooter with a 308 can clear two outside walls and up to four interior walls before deflection or fragmentation. Meaning he has an outside spotter or cameras you don’t know about. Feeding him your positions. He eat you alive. One shot at a time. And he does not need to have actual eyes on you. And no trained swat team units leave captured handcuffed assailants behind them with weapons.
