In an effort to be mindful of my purchases in the remainder of the year, I've pulled out every single Fyrinnae and Crow and Pebble jar eyeshadow I own to swatch. Some of these were freebies, many didn't really look like the images I saw online. The colour is a little washed out in the video, but is fairly representative of the non-super sparkly shadows. Lighting was a mix of warm LEDs and fading daylight.
Shadows in order of appearance.
0:28 - Newtrition, taupey light brown with cool grey aspect. Crow and Pebble says: A cool toned neutral taupe, a medium shade. The product image looks more yellow in the pictures, which I would have liked!
1:10 - Fantasy Creatures, reddy brown with lime green/teal reflect. Fyrinnae says: Vivid lime green sparkle on a sheer tan base turns bright pink at an angle or closer to light. I agree the base is very sheer, with it's warmer-toned than implied by tan.
1:58 - Killiney Hill, mossy green with grey, cool gold shimmer with a touch of yellow. No longer listed.
2:40 CRONCHY CRONCH
3:22 - Faust, cool toned chocolatey brown with gold shimmer (warm reddish base but looks cool in application). Fyrinnae says: This rich, shimmery dark brown has a somewhat metallic finish and slight golden hue without being overly warm. Dark brown is right, but it's almost black on me.
4:12 - Harbor Seal, grey with touch of brown with silvery purple shimmer. Fyrinnae says: Satiny cool taupe with very fine gold and light pink shimmer.
5:12 - Sloth Snuggles, purple grey with strong blue presence, soft blue silver shimmer. Fyrinnae says: Deep to medium chocolate brown graced with a satiny mauve highlight. I find it more purple leaning than this description.
6:10 - Nudibranch, fuschia purple with rosegold shimmer, base colour showed up better on the finger. Fyrinnae says: Pink leaning mauve filled with a shimmery gold highlight and scattering of light green sparkle. I think the shade is more intense/saturated than the images shown.
7:28 - Meerkat, reddish purple with gold shimmer, very patchy and buffed better into the finger. No longer listed.
8:25 - Herbivore, pale grey purple, dusty texture, strong silvery white shimmer. Fyrinnae says: Soft, slightly satiny lavender with a light green highlight. I've seen the green in different lighting!
9:22 - Ursa Major, light lavender with silver/blue sparkle, fairly sheer. Crow and Pebble says: This is a Mauvey-Plum base with a blue duochrome shimmer. I have yet to build this shade up to more than a pale, neutral purple.
10:16 - Serendipity, warm desaturated brown with reddish gold shimmer. Fyrinnae says: This shade is glowing copper shimmer over a sheer charcoal tinted base.
11:33 Arm switch, where swatching gets way worse
11:55 I am a Stray Cat, medium grey brown with cool gold shimmer. Crow and Pebble says: A soft, neutral brown with hints of gold. I think it's cooler than neutral
12:43, Desert Stars, light warm brown with slightly blue, silver shimmer. Fyrinnae says: Over a tan matte base, aqua-green shimmer turns icy blue then pale lavender-pink.
13:30, Kaibyo , reddish gold with purple and red shimmer. Fyrinnae says: On a transparent green base, light burgundy turns copper, gold, then golden green. Metallic finish. Agreed, this is not the "sparkly" type of finish.
14:26 Petrochemical Sheen, medium red brown with blue/green sparkle and shimmer. Gets redder as it's buffed out. Very oil-slick effect! Crow and Pebble says: A deep, warm brown with a bright green duochrome sheen. I agree!
15:21 - Mythical Dalliance, pinky gold with gold and pink shimmer. Fyrinnae says: Rosy-copper sparkle becomes warm gold, then golden green. This shadow is transparent, comprised mainly of color-changing sparkle. I get very little of the green, it sometimes shifts to yellow-green
Some comments:
eye primer definitely amps up shadow depth and is sticky, this is really nice for shimmers if you want a punch. However, removing the shadow from my arm, I was left with a strip of primer and colour, so this might also explain patchy fading throughout the day if the primer isn't even
Fyrinnae Meerkat is a very different formula than the rest of the products. It feels as if it's dried out or is missing a component. This is getting trashed if I can't figure out how to use it.
I did use Pixie Epoxy for all the scattered sparkly shades, but they didn't pick up on camera with the current lighting situation
