Gorgeous colors, I also really love Roman Szmal paints. You are absolutely not alone in your feeling about swatching; I could do it all day long just for the joy of seeing those colors go down! I swatch sometimes just because I want to art something but don't have any ideas, lol. Also, if you love a warm indanthrone Blue, my absolute favorite is Schmincke's Delft Blue (they have another PB60 too, "Dark Blue" I think, but it's not as pretty); it's a warm, dark blue with a super dark mass-tone that I swear looks like velvet when it dries. So nice!
@chromaphile Жыл бұрын
Ah thank you for being so nice! Yes I totally agree about the swatching. So relaxing. And I also agree about the schmincke Delft Blue, I had a dotcard from them and I loved it! It's definitely nicer than the dark blue.

I absolutely agree, swatching paint is so much fun. I would love to be a professional watercolour paint swatcher, if that job even exists. I was gifted a Daniel Smith dot chart for my birthday and swatching those dots was the most fun I've had in ages. I decided to get the Schminke dot chart for my next birthday but their frugal little dots made the paint look really weak, so not as much fun and therefore did not want to buy any of their paints. However, I did previously have a half pan of their potters pink and it is so much more pigmented than the one on their dot chart. Anyway, I loved your video and so glad to find your channel Jules! I love the Aquarius paints too and you have made some lovely choices (adding some to my wish list now lol). Getting ready to watch part 2 next... 🎨🖌😄

Thank you, it's nice to listen to another pigment curious artist :) In the last couple of months I have bought my first Roman Szmal full pans too. I have 20 RS colours so far and I began to acquire them because of the different pigments they use and I find them very good quality. I've become very interested in pigments and their 'personalities' too after beginning to use watercolour.

I love Roman Szmal watercolours. You can play with so many different colours for so little money. Its wonderful and so much fun. Also i think you got the names of the cool and warm reds back the front. If it's an orange leaning red its warm (think of fires and the sun) and if its a purplish red its cool. But overall an excellent video.

You are one of the best- Good job- top review! You focused on single colors, and the way you arranged the review gave so much context and dimension to the product. Part 2 of this - It is difficult to imagine finding and removing any one errant color from that group- it is astonishing how uniform and cohesive this brand is. Someone mentioned your hands...how did i miss-sorry I usually look at hands, tells much about a lady, but the pretty colors mesmerized

Maybe swatching watercolors, studying the history and detail features of the pigments, enjoying different colors and the combinations and reactions of them could be enough, without a pressure to do that all just to create something more important? Fo me, at least, yes. I enjoy immensely when I am playing with colors. I draw also, even paint sometimes, but that is a different thing for me. They connect of course but are different. I enjoyed your video very much. There were a couple of colors I maybe need to (ɓuy), ehem, study a little. I like your relaxed and intrigued personality, it is nice to see there are others who love colors for their own sake (I hope this came right in English). I know nobody in my own close circle who shares this passion with me. After reading the comments: The thought of a group of people who would be happy to just sit somewhere, in a big room with long tables and good light and all the paper and watercolors in the world, just swatching and swatching and experimenting, day after day, made me laugh - and sigh a little. Maybe heaven is like that? Greetings from Finland! Subscribed.

Well, I see you have gone colour mad. Ain't it fun? I have SO MANY swatch and mixing pages. But I learned what colours I tend to prefer, which make the mixes I like. And I kept them all and noted my favourites etc. and all that made painting so, so much better because I leaned how to mix what I wanted. I think where we live has much to do with colour preferences.
