How many calls do you typically get and how are the fire districts set up there? And out of the calls you get what proportions of types of calls are they? Like how many medical vs wrecks vs field fires vs structure fires etc?
@jrockyhill3 жыл бұрын
Most of our calls are probably first responder just medical calls we are all volunteer so there's only a few people that are medical trained not too many structure fires thank goodness mostly grass fires burn barrels that have gotten away cars broken down that people think are on fire we have one of the biggest areas in our County we have a pretty long stretch of i-70 West of Salina Kansasthe other night I went to a car that was thought to be on fire but they just hit a deer I got there first the poor kid was just shaken up I hope that answers your question

@@jrockyhill of course, sir! I love watching the videos of all the big field fires you get out there. The department I volunteer with here in KY is in a mostly rural (with some small suburban) town/county in a county neighboring a big city/county metro area. We don’t get too many field fires around here, nor in probably the majority of central (exception maybe being south central) and eastern KY. Mostly the ocasional forest fire but nothing like they have out west. I love fighting field fires and watching your videos is so fascinating and cool to see how y’all fight the large field fires out there.

Nice video! Are you expecting a bad grass/wildland fire season in Kansas? I feel it’s shaping up to be bad here in Oklahoma. I’m on a volunteer FD in Logan County

We actually had a grass fire this evening but my camera battery died was very cranky didn't amount to much though yes we are primed to be terrible this season I'm keeping my fingers crossed though hopefully you guys get lucky and don't have anything like you had the last two or three years

@@jrockyhill we haven’t had much of a grass fire season the past 3 or 4 years and everything here is either dry or drying up. I saw on your dept’s fb about red flag warnings already. Stay safe brother and keep the videos coming

Great video. Welcome back. Do you only record/respond to field/grass fires?
@jrockyhill4 жыл бұрын
I record anything that I go to that I think will be entertaining but we don't have a lot of calls or I'm on the other side of the district and it's out by the time I get there there has been a few of those

@@dustinpoe4422 Certain states and all that other law stuff allow volunteer firefighters to have lights and sirens etc on their vehicles. Like Oklahoma non of our volunteers have povs to respond to stations, just normal vehicles, no lights, no sirens. I believe Kansas allows it.
