@user-gt4cg8xn6n I don't know about other states but in Himachal particularly in hilly areas women are treated differently during the periods, they are not allowed in kitchens, they are served in different plates, some even prefer not to get in touch with them and many more derogatory beliefs. It is like untouchability system where women are humiliated by other people specially WOMEN. Well I just feel sad about this but little efforts can make a big change. They do not have any solid reason for this belief, some say they follow this because it's a trend in family, some say Devi Devta don't allow such thing to get in touch with a lady having periods etc etc.... And awareness includes talking openly about periods or such other things(in a decent manner), giving any solid reason not to follow such practice and giving proper care to women when she need it most. I don't want to start big lecture on this but you asked so I thought why not just start with you :) THIS is awareness

It is not superstitious at all Proper rest must be given to the women during periods.

It is superstition, It was a practice because female hygiene was not proper pehle. So they were not allowed in the kitchen. But it’s not same anymore but still they aren’t allowed to touch the kitchen. Not working and resting is obviously needed but making it a rule to not touch the kitchen is a bit superstitious.
