I’m so glad I’m from a certain generation where talent was for real and we witnessed real funny creative geniuses like Robert and Keenan. Hello Again Mr. Townsend! I say again because I met you while you were beginning the filming of "A Soldier's Story" in Fort Smith, Ark. I was a young soldier driving across country from Cali to Pittsburgh to see my parents before shipping off for three years in Munich, Germany. I stopped off at Ft Smith at a cheap hotel. I am black and every where I went they kept asking me if I was with 'the film'? The closest place to get a drink was the Holiday Inn bar. The only other young brother in there was you, Mr Townsend, so I struck up a conversation. You said that you were there working on a film 'A Soldier's Story'. I told my story and you explained that you were an up and coming actor hoping that this would be your big break. We laughed told a few stories, you gave me your autograph on a hotel matchbook cover, You signed your name and the movie name. I wished you well with your career and you told me to be safe and well in Munich. Things seem to have worked out well for both of us! You in my opinion are having a great career, I just heard you on 'Sway in the Morning" and it reminded me that had met in October, 1983. I had a full military career with traveling the world and retirement. I am now having a continuing career as a government civilian, still traveling the word on the Government's dime. I was trail blazer as the first black 'Hungarian' Interrogator in Germany and you were always a trailblazer in the things you attempted and accomplished. I vividly remember you being surprised when I asked you for your autograph. I had a feeling and it looks like I was right. Here's to another successful 35 years!!!!!
