The dj showed that white ppl arent affected when they hear "asains sticks together" or "hispanics stick together"....but they feel its segregation when he says "blacks stick together"
@joelates5334
@joelates5334 5 жыл бұрын
We are still segregated in 2019 though. But when it comes to subject on black empowerment, white people all understand that white supremacy is about dominating black people specifically. No matter what they tell you, they understand this. So this is why they only get uncomfortable when black folks talk about sticking together (even though whites have said that black people need to pull themselves up by their own bootstraps)

As a white American. I'm tired of seeing my people take discussions of diversity and the blight of minorities in this country as a personal attack. If people would take the time to think objectively and outside themselves we'd be better off. All people are asking for is your ear, and your undivided attention. If I can take one thing, out of the many things that Killer Mike is saying, it'd be to take the time to learn the history of people who don't look like me, learn how and why it coincides with the history that I've been taught, and start building relationships with people outside of the bubble I was raised in. A good start to me, would be to take the shock value out of the words "white privilege", and instead of being defensive try and learn something.

@Little Sones In the Late 1800s Durham's Black Wall Street; considered by some the 1st Black Wall street (I don't have the data to confirm that; mom, a historian, is getting back to me on that) was located on Parish Street. Mechanics & Farmers Bank as well as NC Mutual were some of the corner stones at that time.

No it won't. White racism being a byproduct of ignorance is a lie. Racism is about POWER. And the reason why white folks have contempt for blacks has nothing to do with their perceived lack of achievement. Instead, it is about white folks wanting to dominate black people. This will to power is the most important thing in their lives. And if they cannot do control black folks, then they will do all they can to wipe them out. Just take a look at what they did to Black Wall Street and other prosperous black economic districts during the 20th century. So the theory that greater education is to solution to smooth out problematic race relations (which btw young white folks claimed did not exist at all just 5 years ago) is a farce at best.

They gotta stop taking pro-black so personally. If he’s not racist then he has absolutely nothing to worry about so what’s the issue? I also find it funny that some of the very same people that claim that black people whine too much are the same people that whine about how they feel. It’s “fuck your feelings but you better respect mine.”

Fam the white DJ is a baddddd look. This guy is one of the reasons that the country stays separated. Mike literally hyped up America and said black people shouldn’t want to leave America but be more apart of it... take advantage of it. And this fool first reply was I feel like you’re promoting segregation. White people you have to be open enough to learn!! Ain’t nobody attacking you, we’re just empowering ourselves! Wow.

We are the ones who need to learn that white folks are not going to change. Because the minute blacks start empowering yourselves, folks like DJ Wonder will come and try to sabotage it. This is why Killer Mike's integrationist stance is so misguided. I mean, honestly, how black people be getting genocided in America in 2019, but he is promoting integration? How Sway?!

I listen every morning at work...and Wonder is a phenomenal DJ... but I don't understand how you can listen to Hip Hop especially 80s and 90s where it wasn't all flash but Hip Hop that spoke about the struggle and uplifting the community was mainstream. How can you listen to this every day all day long and still feel the way you do how can you have that huge of a disconnect are the the MC's lying or just saying stuff for shit's and giggles on the song? Are you using hip hop culture and Black Culture only to enrich yourself? Again not taken away from his skills he's a dope DJ.

I appreciate Mike for setting things str8 with wonder. The ones who feel attacked are defensive because of exactly what Mike said, they don't believe other ppl are important because they are raised/socialized in a way/world that does not expose them to the true value of other ppl. It's time we do for ourselves and each other though, it's futile to go back n forth with ppl who don't wanna open their mind. Let them be and let's just do what we gotta do

Jennifer Williams: It didn't go down quite like that. Killer Mike got rilled up when the dj said something like "u(killer mike) talking about the show makes me not want to see the show because its sounds like it's written from a perspective of segregation.." And killer mike goes "in rap music rappers talk bluntly about white people and some rappers even say CRACKA". And the dj replies.. "Im a beat person.." Meaning.. he's so into hip hop he's willing to turn a deaf ear to rappers speaking negatively on white culture. That's what the dj meant.. which is still quite moronic. Becuase he accepted it as his own(i guarantee he's never whipped a slave in his life)taking it personal..which makes him a bit of an asshole. Just a bit. If he was smarter or had a quicker wit.. he coulda said something like "im not my ancestors.. i shun their actions.. you cannot connect me to savages i dont even know..". Killer mike is a behemoth of words and expression in comparison to the dj. In a sense killer mike was a bit of a bully knowing very well that his abilities in debate far exceed "the dj". In the end the dj said he'd watch the show and give km his review via phone call. I guess that's an example of how education works. Humans are capable of learning/evolving.. no?
