I'm thinking around the lines of Blake becoming Nightwing rather than Batman. As far as Gotham is concerned, Batman died saving the city so having another Batman show up out of the blue would kind of undo what Bruce did. However, another symbol can appear out of the shadows to continue what Batman started, and that's how Nightwing can work.

People act like Robin John Blake is going to become Batman or Nightwing whatever RIGHT then and there. Think of Bruce Wayne from Batman Begins, he didn't become Batman right away, he took his time. Gordon will keep Gotham safe until the time Blake is ready to truly become the dark knight.

There are a couple of ways to do Batman AND his voice. Bale nails this. He is the Dark Knight! Keaton, in his day nailed it also in the first one. (Let's forget about returns, please). No need to go on about Keaton sucking or Bale not being able to be understood. He's disguising his voice. And sounding very freaking menacing at the same time. Well done to both. @yamisupersaiyan despite the crazy suit, nolans batman has his head screwed on straight. batman begins established that he isnt a thrill-seeking vigilante, hes a symbol of justice who was trained by ras to inflict fear in criminals. if he was crazy, he would've killed that prisoner in begins and he wouldve killed joker in tdk. with all that said, the 2 movies established that he isnt crazy enough to 'become' batman, so talking all gravelly to the people who know who he is doesnt make sense to me

@burtonrules123 I'd have to agree. Burton captured the darkness in batman. I liked Batman begins, the second was pretty good but I'll always prefere Burtons original Batman. I thought Michael Keaton was spot on for the part, a little quirky for Bruce Wayne (which I personally liked) and spot on as Batman.

Batman wasn't an important character. Yes, people looked forward to Batman on screen than anything else, but the more important character was the true Bruce Wayne. Not the lie-to-the-media-Bruce, but the deeper Bruce. Batman was but a medium; a symbol. Batman wasn't needed to be "acted" well, because really anyone could say his few lines with a groggly voice and learn the fights (under Nolan's direction). Batman was portrayed efficiently, so I'll let you be in the minority that thinks otherwise.

Okay listen here you and EVERYONE ELSE needs to understand. Levitt will still be the character ROBIN JOHN BLAKE! He will NOT be Bruce Wayne. Plus this is nearly how it goes in the comics. Batman is supposably dead so Robin or Dick takes over as Batman. THIS IS PRACTICALLY THE SAME THING THAT IS HAPPENING! It WORKS! Levitt is a GREAT actor who would be better as nightwing imo but he's taking the role of batman still being robin and it's the best idea. So chill the fuck out and just wait and see.

Hi everybody. It's been interesting reading the banter of all the posts. For those who have commented on the poor quality of my uploaded video you have to remember what tech was available in 2006. It was the best i could do at the time. I mean think about it. Six years ago. Where was the net at ? PC's were not what they are today. This is where the cookie monster esque voice works, when he's angry or sounding threatening, but seriously, every time Batman opens his mouth he has to sound like he has a sore throat? Sometimes Bale tries too hard to sound threatening while Michael Keaton still manages to without really trying. I don't know any super hero that purposely changes their voice unless they turn into something different like Ghost Rider. The sore throat voice is not necessary.

@flamebrain100 That's kind of the point. Bale's Batman is always subject to change. He isn't perfect. He makes mistakes. That was why the Joker was trying to show that his system of choices could be infiltrated and torn apart. In doing so, Batman realized that he was this symbol that was different from a Hero. And as for throwing temper tantrums, Batman is the most controlled angry person I've ever seen. Watch the ending scene in TDK, that should put to rest how controlled he is.

I don't know why people think that the voice is a big deal. As far as psychology is concerned it makes sense. Batman is a character created by Wayne to embody the fear that has plagued in since a child. If he knows his fear and channels it, no longer can it burden him. So basically Batman is supposed to be an embodiment of Fear itself, hence scaring the crap out of badguys and using a growling voice.

in this video (may be because of low quality) "swear to me" part voice was really great. i wish they made Batman's voice similar to that, angry, aggressive, deep, strong. however their choice of voice become less charismatic (it can better heard on "where were the other drugs going"). and it spoiled all the batman fun for me. collegehumor's parodies for that voice, really hits the target.

I guess I should be the one to break it to you that this isn't the comics. Nolan's take and direction on Bruce Wayne/Batman is almost entirely different than the comics. It's more real. Batman is a deep character in the comics, but not in the Dark Knight Trilogy. It's Bruce that is more deeply explored in Nolan's films than the comics. Not to say the comics make Bruce a shallow character, but he isn't as deeply dove into.

@MisterCovek That is not entirely true.For the first 20years there was no description of the voice.But in the 60's it was described as Soft and Calm (Adam west) - in the late70's into the 80's the bats voice was described as a harsh whisper (Michael Keaton) - Later issues 90's - current (i think) the Bats voice is described as deep and rough,sort of like Clint Eastwoods. - AND Bales portrayal is my favourite.

heh anyone notice that in both of the batman films about every main character has a vicious voice scene or something? Batman has this here, Scarecrow has, "WHO KNOWS!!" and i don't remember if Ra's had one or not... but in the second film Harvey had, "Its not about what i want, its about what's FAIR!!" or he said something like that anyway and the Joker had, "Look at me Brian, LOOK AT ME!!!" hooboy that was scary that first time i heard him say that, and the second and third time as well.

Divorce yourself from how you feel about the scene, and just imagine how fucking horrifying it would be to be on your way home and suddenly get yanked forty feet into the air to be yelled at by this horrible creature you're not sure is a man. I agree batman is a character that should install fear into criminals but he doesnt have freak out and throw a temper tantrum like a child every time he does it. Bales batman is so indecisive and constantly losing control. Irritating character.
