I never would have thought a sweater could be upcycled (other than unraveling it for the thread). It did end up very cute, although I also liked some of the earlier versions, too. Thank you for giving me some ideas to try out, and some confidence, too.

Another success! How many times have someone brought home a garment, then notice the size is for UK or France (or insert another country than what is needed). The trials and re-trys are part of the process, and you have such a great attitude!!!

My compliments on how you persevere for a perfect end result. My only suggestion is that a vertical gather at the centre front would create a v-shape neckline without cutting into the finished edge. Possibly just hand-stitched with the leftover yarn.

Cute! So,satisfying when you find that stitch and pull and BAM, it works and the unraveling is magical! The bows are darling and looks great. I find having so many bits and pieces saved from refashioning and keeping things makes it easier to work through a solution when you don’t like how a project is working. Just dive into your stash and see what you have that can work better! Another awesome save! ☺️

One way to enlarge a sweater is while at the thrift store, look for a second sweater of the same color and similar weight and make that 3-inch strip out of the 2nd sweater. Lots of highend stores are doing this. You could also make the body if the sweater a solid knit and the 3-inch expander piece a lacy or textured piece for interest. 💖🌞🌵😷

This looks so nice. Definitely much better than the original. Just cutting the knit sorta gave me kittens. I'm watching and fussing about stay stitches. This sort of thing isn't for the weak of heart! I would have stay stitched everywhere before cutting and honestly probably for annoyed with it!! I could see this sitting in the corner till I figured it out, was less annoyed with it or have up. Congratulations on not giving up!
