Jen Jen Jen! PLEASE do the sock heel class! I have been waiting since you did your research. I believe we have similar arch issues and only currently like a heel flap and gusset. So sock blanks are a no go...think you might be able to change that. When on vacation, I love to find the spots the locals like ( restaurant, park, trail whatever)

I'm with Helen who won the giveaway last week. I have been watching your podcast since you started and i look forward to it every week. My vacation discovery is the pier in pacific beach, san diego. I sit there most weekends and knit the morning away. If you park near the pier and it gets a bit hot, there is plenty of shade next to the pier. I love it. :) The Northlights Fiber is so nice - i think i like the green the best. I am thinking the boardwalk vest by Brooklyn Tweed. Have a great week ladies.

Our vacation plan this year was traveling to Gatlinburg TN and staying in the Mountain View cabins. Such a relaxing time, knitting in the breeze of the woods on the front porch. No plans other than to relax, knit and go eat at some of our favorite restaurants. The Smokey Mountains is truly a relaxful vacation. ❣️🧶

Oh my gosh! I just came home from Vermont yesterday from visiting my daughter and grandchildren. We went to Santa’s Village and Jefferson, New Hampshire. That is a must go to. Amazing time. It’s an amusement park, geared around adults and children to be able to go on rides together. Even crazy rides. We had a blast. My grandsons are three and seven. I just love you ladies.

We haven’t been on vacation for years, but I love the area we live in (Jonesborough TN). There are so many different things to do. Bays Mountain Park is close by. Downtown Jonesborough has music on the square every Friday in the summer. The local library has a knitting group.

The last vacation I went on was April of this year. I went on a cruise to Mexico. The food was so good but my favorite experience on the vacay was getting to watch a Mayan ball game. It was intense, ceremonial, and I learned a lot about the culture.

Very enjoyable ladies, thanks for the podcasts! A very pleasant way to spend an hour or so with you. This year, instead of heading South for vacation, I went North and visited Montreal with knitting friends. 20 of us met up and did Knit City Montreal...Canada is on sale, and loves socks! We found several little restaurants to eat in, the yarn stores we visited had great recommendations. Best place for restaurant recommendations? The LYS we've always found.

Yes please to a class on ladder back jacquard ... on line please so I can join from the far north ;-) I have a fingerless mittens pattern that uses it and have knit it up to the colourwork but have been a wee bit intimidated to try it. Two of our favourite discoveries, both from a long time back, are Athabasca Fall just south of Jasper (Alberta, Canada) and the falls in Wells Gray Provincial Park in British Columbia. Wells Grey is quite a bit out of the standard Rocky Mountain tourist path but if you are up to an adventure it is worth a visit. I looked at the website and this year there are a lot of advisories so probably not the best year to visit.

With your delightful chatter about non wool yarns and sweaters this summer I’m thinking you guys might like the podcast This Orange Couch. She is a prolific knitter and only uses non animal yarns. I find her interesting because she knits a lot of patters from designers I haven’t heard of and she uses all kinds of yarn from expensive to big box. She talks all about the different yarns and how they wear and what she likes and doesn’t like. She has also perfect bust darts and adds them to almost all her tops. She doesn’t podcast often, but just dropped a year in review podcast. May be a good place to get ideas for future sweater classes.

I am very interested in all the things you talk about with socks! I have never heard of a Turkish heel and am going to investigate your previous podcast 57?!?! I am a self taught knitter after nearly 50 years of crocheting. I pretty much have only knitted baby blankets and dishcloths.... I have branched out to trying socks and have yet to figure out my needed needle size and # of stitches. I have knitted 5 socks and so far none of them fit...lol BUT I am not giving up.....
@ChroniclesofYarnia

Yay for trying new things! Don't give up on the socks -- they are such a great portable project. If you're working with fingering weight yarn and you're an average tension knitter, you might want to start with a US1; if you're a loose knitter (like Kathleen and Jen) you might want to try a US0, and if you're a very tight knitter, give a US 1.5 or US2 a try. Negative ease is really important in socks -- you want them to fit snugly on your feet. Hope this helps!

Great podcast, ladies! Kathleen, did you carried the accent yarn every 10 rows in your orange and white WIP? If so, howdid you avoid the jogless jog. I’m knitting a similar pattern and the jogless jog is not good. The pattern does not mention how to avoid the jog. No need to worry, Haley is an all-around awesome person, she’ll find an apt. before you know it! Thanks so much for sharing and the knitting company, happy knitting! ❤❤

Hi there - thanks for watching! I carried the orange up the two white rows, but I didn't carry the white all 10 rows. It annoys me a bit to have two balls attached all the time and at the end of the day I don't find it takes too long to weave in the extra ends. I didn't worry about the jog, I just went with it. I believe the pattern is written this way, but even if it's not, I placed by BOR at one of the underarms (I also omitted the eyelets on the side seams), so I figured the jog would be relatively invisible there. ~K🧶

I’m a 56 year old woman who has knitted since I was 9 years old. Might you touch on changes in knitting habits for someone with Parkinson’s disease? Thanks, Hilary G
@ChroniclesofYarnia
@ChroniclesofYarnia Жыл бұрын
Hi Hilary - How wonderful that you have had the great craft of knitting in your life for over 40 years. I may have mentioned that my MIL had Parkinson's disease, so I have a little knowledge of it. From the little bit of research I've done, it sounds like knitting and crochet are recommended activities for people with Parkinson's because for many people they increase dopamine levels. If more complex patterns are feeling too challenging, it may help to work on smaller and less complex pieces. The Honey Cowl by Antonia Shankland is a pattern that produces a beautiful cowl that is basically a two-row repeat. Tin Can Knits also has a lovely cowl pattern called Simple Yet Effective. If circular needles are proving challenging, perhaps trying straight needles would help, and vice versa. We wish you all the best, Hilary - warmly, Kathleen, Jen and Amanda. 🧡🧶🧡
