Scamspam Nah i mean that personality trait probably exists in every single country to some extent but Swedes in particular are notorious for having this personality trait. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that Sweden is very sparsely populated.

You're right Scamspam, it's not like it's a Swede-only thing, but I feel the level of it is just heightened here. For example, in Australia, there's much more of an openness amongst strangers, to chat. Swedes seem a little more insular. I really think it's to do with the cold!

The swedes are never happy about the weather.. If its cold its too cold, if its warm its too warm, If its snow, its too much snow, if its no snow, its to little... Still they waiting all winter for the warm summer, and when its finally here its not good enough...

The reason we talk about the weather is because it is such a safe subject. Its not politics, its not religion.. just "shitty weather" or "todays its nice" and everyone can agree. So its a safe, non-conflict subject.

I think weather is such a big thing here because we are in one of the most interesting latitudes regarding weather. A very turbulent latitude with a lot of shifting back and fourth. And the weather has such a big impact on us. Over a year, the temperature can range from -40C to +30C, in the same place!

Probably others have already explained it in the comments, but the weather is simply the go-to small-talk topic in Sweden, if you necessarily feel the need to small-talk. It's an innocent enough topic that everyone can relate to, perhaps somewhat similar to snakes in Australia. ;)

Hey Mate, Had a scroll through your KZbin page, great footage, love the vid’s, but figured you might be able to offer me as a fellow Aussie more than a yoga lesson, I’m chasing a little insight regarding how you transitioned from Aus to Sweden? You may already have a video/comment train covering this, if so great, point us in that direction, if not I’d love to hear what we’re some of the points looking back that you wish you knew or that you think are important to know both regarding physically being in Sweden and also setting up a life in Sweden aka banking, moving wealth from Aus to Sweden, land purchase, healthcare etc.. anyways enough said, if you’s have a moment to respond that’d be heaps appreciated, otherwise perhaps an idea for a future vid 👌🏼 Cheers, Mats

The funny thing is that i always wear shorts and often t-shirt in the winter.. And a couple of weeks ago a lady came up to me and said. "Hi i'm from Australia, and i can't understand how you can walk around in the winter with shorts and t-shirt.. Like a real viking. Is it ok if i took a picture so i can show my friends?" Haha... that made my day.

Whoever tricked this poor poor man into coming to Sweden should be ashamed. Its april soon and still snow on the ground! Positive side is that grass is still green underneath. Negative side is that you dont see it ('HA-HA' echos in the distance...). But positive from not seeing all the lovely green grass is that you are still in the mental state that it is wintertime! Which brings me back to saying you'll only have 3 months of sun. I just facepalmed so hard so i passed out for a moment, i hate snow.

I understand that after living here for years the weather might get you down, but I'm having a ball here in Sweden and the weather right now, is perfect! Good Friday and the sun is shining, even if it is fleeting :) I think the weather, and life, is kind of what you make it. Good luck in turning that frown upside down! Puss

Really nice short video mate ! "Swedish private space" has to do with the large number of introvert people, which is quite opposite to extroverts that lives most in Australia and Mexico probably. You should watch movie "swedish theory of love" that made one italian producer, that would provide you some "hidden" basics :) Talking about weather-yes trully it's neutrall topic here. Its common thinking that politics lead to conflicts. Swedes are really not good in chat with strangers, which brings them to place 64 out of 68 countries by Expat insider survey 2018 Here is the case "While extroverts typically learn through trial and error, introverts learn best by watching, but not interacting. If you are out somewhere in Sweden and somebody aproach and says "hur är med dig?(how are you mate?)without any reason then you know he is not a swede :) good luck guys-keep going! ;)

Reason behind swedes talking about the weather all the time is because way back you hade to plan for the winter to survive, growing crops etc. A bad spring/summer will yield less and it'd be harder to survive the winter. Sometimes we also use it to small talk to people.

there's such a thing as daylight saving where it's still light(ish) up to 9:00pm over the Spring & Summer but that aside, it seems unnatural to have daylight in night time hours ... balance of light and dark is needed for good health - keep that Vitamin D up! Good to hear that you're happy though and may it continue over the coming years :) I don't know why this video even came up in my channel recs but it was fun anyway and yep, wired differently as I need and love hot weather and the sense of space and light.

Way to influence local authorities: send support for part of the project and the demand for the authorities to solve your problem. Not wanting my arrival in the leadership of the Russian Federation, the administration decides the issue in your favor. It is tested in the midst of scientific intelligentsia, students, entrepreneurship and state bureaucracy. For 8 points of the project - one requirement. I did lots of research on possibly relocating to Sweden as it just seemed like a great place socially to live... Yes taxes seem high but what the hell... It's taxing mentally to be u.s. citizen anymore... But the deciding factor for me was the absolutely shocking leadership in Sweden they have done shocking things like allow millions of Pakistani African Somali Syrian Muslims into the country and I read about shocking rape epidemic so bad it said Sweden had the highest rape sexual assaults against women in the world! My God what happened to Stockholm and Malmo I read about no go zones and feminists leaders of Sweden doing nothing for swedish women being raped it was absolutely shocking to see this ... I went to Sweden years ago when in military and absolutely loved Sweden but no way I'd go there now... I just can't imagine govt leaders inviting Isis fighters to be citizens? How can this be!!!

lance miller Yea I grew up in Sweden and moved to the states in the early 80's. When I go back to visit family now it is very sad to see how the country have been resettled by Islamists. I just walk down the street minding my own business and as I pass a middle eastern guy he waved his fist at me so I said: "Welcome to my country, can I buy you a cup of coffee" and he snorts something about me being a racist. It never fails every time I go there it just gets worse and worse.

As a non-white foreigner (Korean origin) who has been visiting Sweden since 2005, I agree it's gone downhill really badly since 2012. It used to just feel safe. In Sthlm and GBG, even at 3am when people come out of the nightclubs - the atmosphere was always chill, friendly, with people (women included) walking home. Now, all the girls have to get taxis home, because otherwise black or Muslim guys will harass them. Also, every time I have been in a Swedish city at night in recent years, I get black guys stalking me, aggressively trying to sell me drugs.
