Produced by Eastman Teaching Films, Inc. of Rochester, NY in the 1930s, this black and white silent educational film titled “Sweden” takes the viewer on a tour through Sweden. The film's footage displays snowy rural communities and bustling cities such as the country’s capital, Stockholm. The film also sheds light on the expansion of Swedish industry after World War I focussing on the importance of iron mining and lumber. In fact, it is this post-war economic expansion and prosperity that provided the foundations for the social welfare policies characteristic of modern Sweden.

Packed stalls at the public market in front of Stora Saluhallen/ the Market Hall in Gothenburg (10:30). Large estates, dating back to the Middle Ages, still belong to Swedish nobility (10:48). Farmer organizes hay on estate grounds (11:05). Horses run free in a large field (11:13). Castle Mill in Malmo in the county of Skåne known as Sweden’s granary (11:22). Agricultural workers harvesting grain (11:27). Visborg Castle in Visby on the island of Gotland - formerly an important city of the Hanseatic League during the Middle Ages (11:50). Ruins of the Visby Cathedral (12:12). Skiers on the ski jump and other snow sports (12:37). Swedes enjoying the beach during summer and other coastal activities (13:07). Modern transportation connecting Sweden with other European cities - airplanes, trains, ships (13:40).

John Ericsson also pioneered the use of the propeller, with his designs being the first in the world to adopt it - not least useful on a low slung ship like the Monitor - imagine it with big paddle wheels… Cheers from Gothenburg!

Denmark is another Nazi-like state just like their old Nazi brother Germany, you know how collaborative Denmark was with Nazi Germany!!! they enacted laws there to target non-Europeans minorities there and apply horrible social policy towards these families and kids.
