There are quite a lot of teams in the lower tier leagues, based on regions. So it’s more like an umbrella term where lots of divisions are being played.

The promotion relegation system is not accurate. Team 13 and 14 in the SHL play a best of 7 series against each other and the loser is relegated. In Hockeyallsvenskan top 10 teams play in a play off system. First team 7 against team 10 and team 8 against team 9 play a best of 3 and the two winners moves onto the regular play offs with games best of 7. The winner of the play offs is promoted to the SHL.
