I was at the famous Springsteen concert in 1985 on the field jumping but did not realize that the whole stadium was moving. Anyways Springsteen have been back 10 times after that and the stadium is still there maybe because the fans are so much older that we cant jump so much anymore. There is another fotballstadium close by that can take aprox 18000 people and during the first season the crowd was jumping so much that the city center was vibrating and they had to do similar concrete reinforcements on that stadium.
@Robert080103 ай бұрын
This reminds me of those quick clay landslides and seeing several hundred acres of land just start moving side ways until they emptied themselves into a nearby lake. One of the key triggers was vibration. Can you imagine if that happened in a city center?

We were in the stadium when the California Angles won the division pennant. Even at the start of the game no one was sitting down. As the game neared the end and the win was assured the crowd went wild. I noticed the movement in the upper deck of seating. It was going up and down rhythmically, just as described here. I estimated that the edge of the structure was moving around ten inches. Earky in the game the movement was noted by facilities workers. A half hour later engineers, architects, fire department crews and many police were on site as the engineers analyzed the stresses. Ultimately they determined that while concerning, the movement was within the design perameters.

In the Texas tower collapse, the "creative" lifting mechanism was blamed, but loss of a single guy wire should not have collapsed the tower. It's hard to see in the video, but it looks like the current tower has more guy wires, providing redundancy that should have been part of the initial design.
@d.l.d.l.81404 ай бұрын
The guy wire would have been out of sync with the rest of the guy wires as soon as the microwave unit started riding it down. The extra force could have overwhelmed the others, and things in motion have multiplied force when they contact resistance, in this case a guy wire perhaps made even more critical because of instructions to do the bare minimum number of supporting guy wires. Bean counters and greedy companies.
@kevinducharme12633 ай бұрын
just thinking out loud here; as the tower section slid down that wire (which eventually broke, thus weakening the tension on that side) could it have loaded the wires on the opposite side of the tower, then when the load was released recoiled to the opposite side. or is this even plausible? kinda the same effect as the bridge pile ripping off the piling pipe maybe? maybe someone smarter than me can keep me honest here?

ABBA was one band with not a lot of influence, but a lot of success. The Stockholm Metal scene didn't evelolve much past its underground stage but has influenced a lot of other Death Metal bands to this day. On the east coast, their Death Metal was influenced by Thrash Metal (Slayer was one of the larger influences) and Hardcore Punk. Entombed, Dismember, Tiamat (formerly Treblinka), etc, were among the most successful bands, even if none of them ever became as widely known as most of its west coast counterparts. On the west coast, the Metal scene became HUGE. West coast Death Metal was more influenced by Black Metal, Symphonic/Melodic Metal and, funnily enough, Classical music and in some cases even Folk music. Gothenburg style Death Metal became known and Melodic Death Metal, oftened shortened to Melodeath. In America this type of Metal music is often called "Swedecore". Bands like In Flames, At the Gates, Soilwork, Arch Enemy, Dark Tranquility, etc, all evolved past its underground stage and became known worldwide. At a relatively small festival in Gothenburg, In Flames played their biggest hit "Only for the Weak". The crowd started jumping so hard and in such good synch that it measured on the eartquake sensors

At the 2017 Bruce Springsteen concert at Ullevi he asked the audience: 'Shall we test the repair of the stadium?' I worked at the show and was on the field. Capitalism didn’t build that bridge & no monument represents capitalism more in New York City than the NY Stock Exchange. The bridge represents socialism & how your social structure can use govt to cough up the funds they have been promising for years but were always short on funds to be committed. At least after all this time of struggling to build a project it was government (a form of socialism) who financed & contracted out to get the brumidhe started & completed. Calling that capitalism is soooo wrong & pathetic. The construction firm had to bid against others to land the project before a socialist committee awarded the firm work on the project. But that firm could lose their contract for multiple reasons. They got out easy here & most do.

Trust me… Bruce Springsteen is a remarkable musician but sorry, he doesn’t “rock”, never has never will. 😩 Crane Collapse: out of all of the colors in all of our planet New York had to pick painting that bridge one of only 2 chauvinistic colors, “baby boy blue” which i call gay-boy-blue simply is a passive color that signals weakness, where strength isn’t needed. Pink is the next weak & chauvinistic color on the list, labeled as a “troublemaker color” but as for that bridge…This is a doublespan construction site with 8 lanes. You’re damn straight strength is required. Who picked such a weak color? Why not pink? By painting it baby blue you’re also labeling it a BOYS BRIDGE. I get that. Women refuse to accept high paying dangerous construction jobs because they prefer easier lower paying jobs, or higher or equal paying engineering jobs so they can sit at a desk a day. But just picking the wrong color sets a presidence of things to come. You picked a weak ugly color, you might as well pick pink to paint all your bridges. Funny you have no pink bridges in New York. Why not? No girls working to build them. In fact why not ignore all the women & praise the men that built them by painting all bridges baby boy blue? Here’s a plan… try “clear coating” the structures instead. Or try using the natural color of concrete: GRAY or… if you pave with asphalt: black, make the whole friken bridge black, anything but that pansy color y’all chose. You dont paint a bridge above water blue urnless you could care less about aesthetics in having your man made object shine out as the art work it was built to be.
