Sweden, Stockholm - Walking in the City Centre

Let's walk around Stockholm

Let's walk around Stockholm

Күн бұрын

Another day in Stockholm. And today we are in the heart of the city centre. I am walking in a circle around Central Station.
Stockholm City Centre (Stockholms innerstad, Innerstaden, Inre staden) is in Stockholm Municipality, also known as the City of Stockholm, part of the Stockholm urban area in Sweden.
Since 2007, Stockholm City Centre has been organized into four stadsdelsområden (sometimes translated as "boroughs"): Kungsholmen, Södermalm, Norrmalm and Östermalm.[1] Before 2007, it was organized into five boroughs: Katarina-Sofia borough, Kungsholmen borough, Maria-Gamla stan borough, Norrmalm borough and Östermalm borough.
The border between the historical provinces of Södermanland and Uppland splits Stockholm City Centre in two parts. 179,185 people live on an area of 28.05 km2 in the northern (Uppland) part, which gives a density of 6,388.06/km2.[citation needed] The same data for the southern (Södermanland) part is 103,646 people on 7.44 km2, giving a density of 13,930.91/km2.[citation needed] This border is purely historical and has no administrative significance.

Stockholm is the capital of Sweden. It has the most populous urban area in Sweden as well as in Scandinavia. 1 million people live in the municipality, approximately 1.6 million in the urban area, and 2.4 million in the metropolitan area. The city stretches across fourteen islands where Lake Mälaren flows into the Baltic Sea. Outside the city to the east, and along the coast, is the island chain of the Stockholm archipelago. The area has been settled since the Stone Age, in the 6th millennium BC, and was founded as a city in 1252 by Swedish statesman Birger Jarl. It is also the county seat of Stockholm County.

Stockholm is usally bustling, and you might come across druggies and dealers, nightlife can be hectic. And traffic is rushed. I suggest Karlstad instead. It's smaller but everything is there and plenty of people, but having a car is a relief because comuting there is much more limited but traffic is easier.

Bali and Sri Lanka are nice places to go. Genuine hospitality, and very understanding people. Though traffic in Sri Lanka may cause a flare. The more you go out, the more you will overcome.

Lovely presentation of Stockholm, though we are seeing a fraction. Magnificent city. Well maintained. The city administrators truly work hard to keep it so pleasant. Sweden is a great place to live. Safety, security, cleanliness and pleasant people make Sweden a top destination to live and work. Sweden is a quality country. The Nobel stamp is the ultimate recognition for the human intellect. Waiting for the next video.

Strange that KZbin recommended this video. It's nice to see Centralstation looking really good and Stockholm. I have some fond memories of Sweden - perhaps my smultronställe. I lived and worked in Södertälje/Östertälje nearly 20 years ago and the Central Station was awful then. It was a shock for me especially in the winter with all the cigarette butts and snus spat out.

Very nice video again. I was out all day today so I watched this video as soon as I came home. The statue that you like is of Nils Ferlins who was a Swedish poet and lyricist. I'd never heard of him but I noticed the name of the square and guessed there had to be a connection. Wikipedia confirms it's a statue of him lighting a cigarette.

What a great video! It really makes me want to go there. I'd have to be careful on the red lights too. Here in the UK the lights for pedestrians are just advisory. There are no laws stopping you from crossing where and when you want. So the locals all cross on red if there's nothing coming.
@theholydm2040
@theholydm2040 2 жыл бұрын
Red lights are advisory in Sweden. Jaywalking is only illegal on high speed motorways. You can cross as a pedestrian on a red light but if you have a green light cars have to stop for you.

The most annoying thing about the new train station is that there’s like a 200 m platform with ten chairs to sit 🤦‍♀️ and they usually don’t announce which side of the platform the train comes in until right before arrival and you can’t see on which side the train arrives on if you’re at the wrong side of the platform. /person who just moved back to stockholm haha

I'm one of those few Swedes who perfers darkness and cold over sunshine and warm weather. It stresses me out and I often refuse to go outside when it's sunny.🤣🤣 September to March is the best six months to me because it gets dark outside early and I don't have to "expose" my body by wearing dresses because of the hot temperature. I can hide in warm and cozy jackets which is much more perferable. 😁

Sorry you feel that way. I don't think that Swedes are cold at all.... maybe we seem unapproachable because many are a bit reserved and it is not in our culture to strike a conversation with strangers, but once someone does we are friendly. And in my experience we are also helpful.

One of the last dictatorships in the world where people don't dare to say what they think and where you are treated like a child and where multiculturalism is a religion. Sweden is a lie. If you say what you think, you will be alone because this is a conformist society. Please come here as soon as possible we need more idiots who will pay one of the highest taxes in the world.

I loved the beginning of the video especially, with the metro stations and Central Station. Is it all pretty clean? Do they have lifts in the metro? It looks pretty clean with announcements in English too! The building opposite the entrance you came out of was a beautiful red brick grand dame! Loving your videos and I’m finding it so relaxing 😌 👏

It's so nice that the escalators go all the way to street level unlike other cities. I have some health issues and I won't be doing the Metro in Paris again. IF I ever get back it will be the buses. I was in Stockholm in 2006, for a week and just loved it. It was first week in January and very cold and still Christmassy. I would love to go back. It's just a beautiful city.

I noticed that european people like in Paris or in Stockholm do not care about traffic lights. That's interesting.

Hej! Another great video, Tack! Haha, smaller camera? :D Yeah, in that case people wont stare that much, they re funny when they do it and honestly a bit annoying. Still your camera quality is so perfect, I can see everyth so clear! You have a great voice for narrator I really enjoy to listen and watch! Oh and why not just stop and talk to someone u know? It would be very funny actually, and interesting if u speak in svenska. See u next time ^^

This looks so much better than Copenhagen. At least in the city centre It's way dirtier and rougher.
