Sweden - Summer in Jämtland
This is a cinematic movie of my travel to the Jämtland region in Sweden during summer.
Sweden is such an amazing country and Jämtland is surely a special region to go to. In summer everything is blooming, the colors of the trees, the sound of the flowing waters, the width of the Fjell and the smell of the forests are incredible. If you are searching for a place to really calm down and enjoy the silence, you have found your destination right here. And there's so much to do. Sweden and Jämtland with all it's lakes, rivers, forests, mountains and national parks is always worth doing something. The are so many hikes to do, so many places to have a swim , so many lakes and rivers to fish and so many opportunities to enjoy the silence and beauty of Sweden's nature. Jämtland is also known for it's biggest city Östersund. Östersund is a small cozy city right next to one of the five biggest lakes in Sweden called Storsjön.
I personally had so much luck with the weather. Normally the climate in Jämtland is quite wet, cloudy and rainy. But during my stay, I almost only enjoyed pure sun and blue sky. The few rainy and cloudy days I had still gave me that cozy Swedish feeling you normally get with Swedens climate. I also was very happy to see lots of wildlife. Beside seeing some cow moose I saw at least hundreds of reindeer in the mountains.. Such a special moment. Unfortunately I haven't seen any bears, but they are said to be very very very rare. I might have seen a wolf, but that is not quite confirmed.
The most special place?
One of them is definitely Flatruet.
It's the highest waypoint of Sweden and Jämtland and it has definitely been a highlight of my summer travel. It's a big long road in the middle of the flat Fjell. It's only surrounded by width and mountains. And it is definitely the place to go, if you want to see reindeer.

Lovely video! I've often been to Stockholm but yearn to visit the Swedish countryside being from a rural area myself. Thank you for sharing your trip (and beautiful weather!) with us. I enjoyed your written commentary as well. Warmest wishes from Northern California! 😊❤

Thanks for your kind words. Stockholm really is a completely different feeling. Not comparable. The silence out there creates a completely different world.

As a swede I love Northern California, I spent about a week in Mt Shasta 2017. I hiked some of the surrounding trails and it is a magical place.

Thanks. The river lies next to the small village Storsjö and it’s lake Storsjön which is located near the Flatruet region as well. Truly a beautiful area.

The region is called Flatruet. There is only one street going through this terrain. It‘s Sweden’s highest waypoint and absolutely packed with reindeers. The sunsets are amazing and the vastness of the nature is incredible.
