A "steklåt" ("steak tune") is a tune (usually a march) intendend to be played on large dinner parties (e.g. a wedding celebration), when the main course is carried in and served.

@TheValkoooo Yes, Arundo donax. The traditional material is Phragmites australis (Arundo does not grow in Sweden), but Arundo is more reliable.

Very nice! Some years ago, I made an experimental set of pipes, using copper & brass tubing and plumbing fittings, with membrane reeds of plastic film. It played pretty well: I called it the "Plumbag"...

@Comediantrumpet A bagpipe by the Swedish makers costs 4000-8000 SEK. There are makers in your country too, but I don't know their prices. Check with the Sackpfeifenbau site. I'm coming to Germany (Mecklenburg) to give a workhop in December, by the way. There will be makers there too.

First of all, many thanks for the opportunity you offer us to discover the Swedish folklore tradition. I think that the sound of the sackpipa is one of the most beautiful of all bagpipes with the Irish pipe. Learning the bagpipes myself, I would like to buy one during a bike trip in Sweden during the summer (I am French); That's why I am asking you these questions :) 1) first of all, do you think it's difficult to go from a Scottish bagpipe to a Swedish one ? It seems to me that the game is perhaps simpler on the Swedish one, probably because of the ornamentation and the speed of play. 2)In the same way, are the scores of the Scottish/breton game easily transposable to the sackpipa? More generally, does this bagpipe allow to improvise in company with other musicians ? 3)Finally, to which maker should I go during my trip ?I have seen, for example, that Alban Faust made magnificent models. But the most important for me is to be able to meet directly the manufacturer to get some advice :)

Den vanligaste tonarten (och som jag spelar på i denna video) är A. Så ska du spela med andra säckpipare är det bäst så. Men G är en vanligare tonart när man spelar med andra instrument, så det är praktiskt det med. Så, med andra ord, det beror på vilka du vill spela med.
