Even if Johnny Depp wasn't in it, this movie is AMAZING. Sondheim and Burton are geniouses. Sondheim's the one that came up with the entire idea of making it a musical, and Burton perfected it by letting the story be told through the singing and getting rid of the "traditional" way of musicals. That's the exact reason why I love it so much. In movies like Hairspray and Chicago, they have the dialogue, then singing AND dancing. Letting all the emotion come out through the singing...Beautiful.
