Don't see the details option in sharepoint to get the file path? We can find it another way Step 1 - Hit the three dots on the excel file Step 2 - Open Excel file in App Step 3 - Click Info Step 4 - Click the button that says "copy path" Step 5 - Paste this path into data source in either powerbi desktop or powerbi service Step 6 - Remove "?web=1" from the end of the path in the data source box Step 7 - Close the Excel file in App

What if you expect a different Excel file with a different name (because of a different date of the Excel report) being present on a weekly basis. Is there a way to tell Power BI to point to the newest Excel file available in the folder path?
@QtheDataLad6 күн бұрын
@@kayne3619 you can set up a parameter in a dataflow or .pbix file and manually swap the folder paths as long as all the transformation logic is the same. Or you could use power automate to do it for you possibly

Nice content! So basically we update data from the dataflow and then publish pbi again? Is there any way it refreshes itself?
@QtheDataLad2 ай бұрын
@@danielperdomo01 yup! you can set the refresh schedule in the dataflow settings so it does so itself 🙂

Hey, The copy URL is functional for OneDrive, why for SharePoint not use SharePoint Folder route?
@QtheDataLad10 ай бұрын
you can go that route for sure. going this route is handy when you have multiple people editing within one centralized excel sheet. basically allows everyone on a team to make changes easily and that will flow to reporting

What’s the benefit of using the data flow
@QtheDataLad7 ай бұрын
dataflows are quicker for load and refresh times in service as well as in schematic models. dataflows are also good to share with other departments who want to use the same query/logic
