Near the end of the video you are talking about how to practise. And yes, actually doing it is a good way - practise makes perfect right? But then....next step is to see how accurate you are. With my team we found it invaluable to practise timing while we also have a Chronocurl on the ice, that way we could match what we had on our stopwatches versus what was timed with the laser.

Split times are very good indicator for competitive curlers. On the other hand, recreationnal players do not have consistant slides, releases, number of rotations, release points and certainly cannot judge the differences of speed at different spots on the sheet. On the same team, players have different shoe speeds, some have toe caps. Want to get good at judging weight? Practice it by throwing away your stopwatch!
