Jessica Lange as Patsy and Sissy Spacek as Loretta...were absolutely amazing.

Really wished that they collaborated for this film. It would’ve been legendary! Two absolutely amazingly talented, Oscar Winning stars, in one film! Sadly, all we can do is dream.
In the Movie" Nashville Lady with Sissi Spacek" Patsy Cline was played by Beverly D'Angelo
@SPCLPONY3 жыл бұрын
@@astridgorgens4483 There is a video of Beverly in that movie where she actually sings the Patsy Cline song beautifully! I never knew Beverly could sing. As I read the comments, it was plain to see many people were dismayed that hollywood chose Jessica Lange to play the role of Patsy after Beverly literally nailed the performance.

I remember seeing this movie shortly after it came out and getting introduced to Patsy Cline at that time. Recently saw Coal Miner's Daughter (even though it has been out for years and years) and I also think Beverly D'Angelo's own rendition of Sweet Dreams is very enjoyable as well. Thank you for posting this. Patsy Cline was certainly a phenomenal singer!

I'm usually bawling when this scene hits in the movie, mainly because I know what's coming next and I can't handle it! I don't know which scene makes me bawl harder, the crash in "Sweet Dreams", or the scene in "Coal Miner's Daughter" when Loretta hears the news about Patsy on the radio.

For her music to still be so fresh nearly 60 years after her death speaks volumes to just how talented Patsy Cline was. She wasn’t on this earth long, but the music and memories she left behind will always stand as an amazing testament that Patsy Cline was definitely here.

On this day in 1985 {October 2nd} the Patsy Cline bio movie "Sweet Dreams" opened in theaters across the U.S. Jessica Lange was nominated for an Academy Award for 'Best Actress' {winner was Geraldine Page for 'The Trip to Bountiful'}... Patsy Cline died in a plane crash on March 5th, 1963 at the age of 30... One month later on April 20th, 1963 Ms. Cline's "Sweet Dream" entered Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart, eventually it peaked at #44 & on Billboard's Hot Country Singles chart it reached #5...

A bit of trivia: The incomparable Meryl Streep actually wanted this role and the director was a longtime personal friend of hers. When she made it known to him that she wanted it, he sat her down and told her that she could never do the justice to the role that Jessica Lange could. Meryl was hurt but when she saw the film she knew he was right.

@smarleneh I am so sorry you lost your daddy that way and much too soon I reckon. And Patsy was such a good woman with the voice of an angel...just a tragic tragic loss all around. And they must have been so terrified. Every time I even see a video with Patsy I get teary eyed - i feel the loss of her so much and she died 10 years before I was born - hard to explain. SO sad for all you kids. My thoughts go out to all of you my dear,
