fun fact: you can hear a little bit of a demo of this song at the end of "I AIN'T GOT TIME" in Flower Boy. another connection to that album: on the first track "Foreward," it mentions "And if you walk to the bottom you'll prolly see a pool // You better not drown, keep them ten toes up // 'Cause if them toes down that means you fucked up", and in the middle of this song Tyler says "The plan was to stick my toe in, check the temperature, but next thing I know, I'm drownin'." Little details like this is key to why I love Tyler so much, just layers on layers on layers.

@@Mostacs Damn I feel this bro, my first love for years ended up no longer together. I now know how complicated things were, she was going to this college for her masters and I decided to join the military. We had decided on taking a break because we weren’t going to around each other, but since getting in contact with her again she thinks that break was a mistake. She wrote letters to me that I never received, and she thought I never wanted anything to do with her again. She was borderline on being homeless since her mother took money from her betrayed her trust. She confided in a dude I was aquatinted with but she knew before, he abused her. I had a feeling something was wrong leading up to me shipping out and tried to talk to her. Now I can talk to her the way we kinda use to but the trust for me is just gone. Life happens and I’m truly remorseful, she was a victim of abuse before so she was mentally vulnerable. Unfortunately I can’t bring myself to build that bridge back up again, I was angry thinking that used and betrayed myself but it’s so much more complicated…

SWEET is one of the few songs that were outtakes from Flower Boy. It seems a version of it was already far in production before it was cut, since Tyler filmed himself listening to the "sugar... you're so sweet" chorus on Instagram. That same part was included as a snippet at the end of I Ain't Got Time. Interesting how Tyler held on to this song for so long, and only now finished it instead of leaving it as a mysterious SFFB outtake we never got....

It’s funny how life can change. I was in love with my girlfriend, I got sober so I could be better for us. I used to sing “Sweet” to her all the time, she loved it. The day I checked into rehab, she broke up with me and I never heard from her again, and the song that actually applied to me was “I thought you wanted to dance”. Sidenote: I remain three years clean and sober as of today, so not all was lost. I luh yall.❤

this song fucking perfectly captures the experience of falling in love with someone so deeply, only to eventually discover you two arent meant to coexist at that moment in time. But the feeling you're left with after, knowing youre both still in love but need to walk away from each other to grow & develop individually, the confusion, the guilt, the pain, everything. Im not even a huge tyler fan like that. But this man is a musical genius, capturing those expressions 100% accurately from the sappy, sugary, slow beginning, to the moody & trance like bridges that transition into a passionate and painful ending. Exactly what i just went through all of 2019-2021, & this dude conveyed that entire life experience in just 9 minutes. Thank u tyler for giving this piece to the world, its helped me & im sure many others understand & cope w real life emotions ❤️
