In my opinion, Niles was a better psychiatrist than Frasier. He showed genuine care for his patients, spent hours talking to them, and holding group sessions while Frasier was more focused on his fame and would disregard his callers at times. Even when he hated his patients, he still respected them and helped when he can. Niles was deeply devoted to his ethical practice and this was a definite proof of that.

Even Fraiser admits that to Niles in the last season, when ironically Niles is getting panicked about competing with Fraiser as the latter returns to private practice. Fraiser tells Niles that he [Fraiser] couldn't compete with his brother in their field even if he wanted to.

It’s crazy how Frasier is the most underrated psychiatrist in his own show. The top 2 Psychiatrists in the series are either Lilith and Niles. While Frasier had decades of clinical experience and private practices before the spin off began, those 2 were able to diagnose people longer than Frasier has. You could make an argument for his mentor being better than Frasier himself. However Frasier has one thing over all the psychiatrists.Frasier’s constant introspection and the ways he uses his failures and past trauma to shape his perspective makes it more easier to see understand the flaws of his patients and resonate with them . His environment in his workplace and home changed his perspective, where his degrees means almost nothing. Niles and Lilith approach in a more scientific and textbook way, while Frasier’s more empathetic way can help him find the flaws in themselves and work to find a quicker way to find resolutions. It’s established in the blackout episode he regularly helps people on the street. This is why in the show his quick advice and good ear helps his callers or civilians very well and is seen as the best psychiatrist in the show.

And Niles was angry - and justifiably so. But it's an important moment for him. Niles allows himself to get angry at the woman he most loves; he would never have allowed himself or trusted enough to do that with Mel or Maris. He holds his ground, while being a good husband and psychiatrist and getting to the heart of Daphne's fears that made her act so uncharacteristically. This scene demonstrates his impressive growth in confidence and in faith in his and Daphne's love.

Unless you've done a lot of independent research you have no idea if divorces in Hollywood are more common than in the rest of the country (where divorces are also extremely common). Secondly, why pick on Hollywood instead of Washington? The current president is on his third wife and has cheated on all of them. Newt Gingrich is on his third wife and left the other two once they got ill (there's character and loyalty for you).

It’s weird how throughout his life, Niles was always in the shadow, always trying to live up to other people’s expectations, almost an emotionless android, slave to being pompous and stiff. However, in Daphne, he was finally allowed to be a human with emotions and himself. Even his relationship with his father became more established, their once strained closeness now without restrictions. I do love the show, but in realty, the Frasier Crane character is very toxic, not at all a particularly nice person, a psychotherapist by paper but selfish, self-absorbed and very arrogant person by nature, (I have two older siblings like that,)

@@jeremyweekes2126 This is an old comment but I'll respond. It's not just "waterworks." Daphne knows what she did is serious and wrong. She knows Niles will be justifiably angry at her. She's ashamed of her own behavior because she knows she's violated her husband's trust, just as she has that of his patient. Furthermore, her insecurities placed her husband's career at risk. She might even be afraid that Niles will leave her over the incident. But her own love and sense of ethics made her confess the truth to her husband. Which is brave. Niles is furious with Daphne. But you forget - he knows her character and that this is very unusual behavior for her. He knows she's not a manipulator like Maris and Mel. So he spends more time trying to figure out why she did it. He understands that what she really needs is reassurance and, as angry as he is at her, he gives it to her. While making sure she understands that he's still upset with her. But he deeply loves his wife and understands why she acted as she did, though he can't approve. Niles has faith in Daphne's good character. He will in time forgive her and they will go on being together, with Daohne feeling more assured about their future and Niles knowing that he underscored the gravity of her actions and reminding her to trust him. Frankly the smartest thing he did in the entire conversation was not to make it about himself. What else would you have him do, exactly?

Well, what is Niles going to do? His wife confessed what she did wrong and the insecurities that drove her to it. He's justifiably angry but he's too calm a man, too good of a psychiatrist and too loving a husband not to try to figure out what's really going on with her. Niles explains just what might happen to him if this story got out. He gets to the heart of the issue about Daphne's worries (which, given the history she describes, are not out of left field). He finds the right words to give her reassurance. He doesn't make it about himself because he realizes that it's really not about him; it's about Daphne's fear that at some point he'll lose interest in her and stop loving her. He holds her but lets her know he's still upset with her behavior. How else was he supposed to react? His behavior is in fact impeccable and quite restrained, given how angry he is.

IKR, did Niles ever find out that it was actually Frasier who blabbed to Daphne about his feelings for her and not Roz?

I WAN'T HIM XD Why are there any guys like Niles ? 0o
@jeremyweekes2126
@jeremyweekes2126 3 жыл бұрын
Because in real life vvomen typically don't give guys like that the time of day. VVomen say that want a nice guy, but their actions say the complete opposite. While saying they want a nice guy, they simultaneously friendzone that nice guy & use him as an orbiter while she goes out & chases after the bad boy who won't commit to her. & then when the vvoman hits her 30's & the wall approaches, that is when she settles for the nice guy (beta provider) because she wasn't able to lockdown the bad boy she really wanted.
