STEP BY STEP INSTRUCTIONS AND DETAILS PROVIDED IN THE VIDEO.

INGREDIENTS I USED:
Baked in a preheated 425 degree oven until the crust just starts to brown, then turn down to 325 for another 45-50 minutes or until your desired brownness (Time may vary depending on your cake pan and/or oven.)

1 1/2-2 Cups Roasted Mashed Potatoes
1 Can Sweetened Condensed Milk
2 Large Eggs
1/2 C Brown Sugar
1/2 C UNsalted Softened Butter
1/2 Tsp Nutmeg
1/4 Tsp Salt
2 Tsps or more Tblspn Vanilla Extract
1 Regular 9 inch Pie Shell

@@ToniHopeLive Also a another little hit, I dust my pie crust with sugar before I put my filling in, so I don't have to pre bake my crust. That way the pie crust is never wet tasting, like it might be if the crust wasn't pre bake.

Lady Donna, my mama, always made her pies with pet milk, nutmeg, sugar, and cinnamon. She would pre-bake her pie shells for a few minutes before pouring the filling. It always was the best, and I still followed her recipe today. The pie looks delicious, and I know how Pastor Robert feels when it doesn't taste the same.

The leftovers batter I put about 1/4 -1/2cup of flour and 14 cup more sugar in it and make pan bread out of it. My family love it over the pie.

Sweetened condensed milk is my favorite for flavoring and sweetening my sweet potato pie. I don't make my pie without it. I am not making a pie if the store doesn't have sweetened condensed milk. I always add some sugar. Also, like you said Mrs Donna it is not sweet enough without adding sugar.

Love your recipe. I always used half carnation milk half sweeten condense milk to keep the sugar content down. The taste is so good because sweet potatoes have their natural sugars. I personally always use cinnamon & nutmeg in my pies. Cinnamon & nutmeg go together like garlic powder & onion powder. I use this recipe from Eagle Brand every year. It’s a good recipe for 1 deep dish pie shell. I dock my pie crust and never over whip to keep the dense texture.

I am the baker of my family's thanks giving/Christmas I always boil my potatoes because i bake like 10 pies this year I am going to bake my potatoes. I aways use the sweet condensed milk and one can carnation milk nutmeg butter etc grandmother and great Aunt kept me and my sisters in the kitchen. So being grown now I do know how to Cook and clean. My aunt use to make sweet potato pie with crushed pineapple. I make it today and love it. Many people have had my pies and love it as well. Squeeze out the juice from the canned pineapple's and mix into your pie before baking. Delicious!!!!!

Ok Mrs Donna you "learn" 😅 me something today. My momma beat her potatoes also before adding the ingredients, she didn't like the strings either. But she just beat them until she thought the strings were out and as far as I know we never taste or saw any so that's what I been doing too(now I'm not in my 20's nor 30's or 40's 😂) As mentioned before you "learned " me something, who would have ever thought to drip the beaters in some water to rinse the strings off. to remove the sweet potato strings, just push the cooked potato through a strainer, which will catch the strings, while the flesh of the sweet potato goes through the mesh of the strainer.👍

Ms. Donna I love watching your videos, and when making sweet potato pies try using a food processor to blend your potatoes because it cuts those strings in the potatoes. It comes out smooth like baby food. Try it. I bake as well and this is a quick and easy way so you won't have to keep stopping and rinsing your beaters!

Ms. Donna check your recipe, most call for deep dishes. You have the shallow shell. If you have more than called for bake it as a sweet potato pudding.

Roasting them...what a great idea! They have to have more flavor like that. Did you find that? If you have only regular sugar and molasses, can you use that? Great idea rinsing the beaters in water to avoid strings. I never thought of that. By the way, did you know an egg wash over the poke holes (if you had done that) and baking the crust afterward, seals the crust so no liquids seep down under the crust? I never knew that either and always ended up with a ‘soggy bottom’ 😳. Have you ever put raisins in your sweet potato pie? My goodness those are so expensive though! It looks wonderful and so glad you redeemed yourself with the lemon angel food cake. Remember...never give up. I love it when you talk about nasty hands in the kitchen and to wash cans...great advice!

I am looking forward to making this recipe. I think what I might try is adding 1/3 cup more brown sugar to the extra pie filling and an 8 oz block of cream cheese and make a cheesecake to go along with the pie. I might also try adding 1 1/2 cups cake flour and bake it as a jelly roll cake. I am really glad I found this woman's channel. Following her is going to be so much fun.

Hey Sister Donna. I love sweet potato pies. My mother used Canned Pet Evaporated Milk with McCormick Nutmeg, etc. no ginger or clover in her pies. I now use unsalted butter instead of salted butter and regular 9" pie shells. Glad Dude #1 could see and taste the difference in your pies. I've tasted different recipes, some ok, others not ok. Your condensed milk pies look good and firm. 😋
