Sweet upgrade to the Flex Radio 6XXX series SDR Radios

Hey Jim, cheers, I noted yr 6300, was looking at that too, in the end bought a 6400, to set up a remote station, cheers n always enjoy yr input on CaHR, 73 n all the best, oh n hope to buy myself the Maestro for Christmas when the new units are eventually avil, ciao !!!

Jim, the internal battery is supplied by the customer and is a standard battery with USB out and there is a USB A connector inside for plugging into the battery. So 5V. The power supply connection on the side of the Maestro is only for powering the device (does not charge the internal battery that customer supplies) and the Maestro does come with a power supply of 12V at 2A. Jason (HR2.0) has an old video on the Maestro where he recommends a battery for internal use as the compartment is small and takes only a certain size battery.

I didn't pull the battery out, I guess I just assumed it was a 12v battery with a UBS connector. Which makes no sense.

The most old school OM's are going to like the M models because they have knobs on the front and they are gonna put it in their shack where the power, coax, amp, and other stuff is already located. Some OM's are going to embrace the network radio server architecture of the Flex and appreciate the ability to locate it somewhere convenient that might not be within arms reach of where they like to operate. If they really want knobs the Maestro brings that touching the radio experience even if the radio is somewhere else. This might make it easier having your shack upstairs while the radio gear is downstairs close to the house ground, circuit breaker box, or something similar. For someone who is comfortable using computers, they may skip getting an M version or a Maestro and instead just opt for the Flex Control wheel and some sort of tablet or computer to run their radio from. This last option is what I am doing with my 6600.

I like the Maestro, it's a swank interface. However, since even when I'm radioing, I got a computer in front of me, I just can't justify the cost of the Maestro. Regardless of how awesome it is, it would be overkill for me.

That is one slick device. Too bad it's unobtanium at the moment. Wonder if the will keep on looking for a 8" replacement screen and keep it unobtanium til then or make another model with the smaller screen.

I gotta figure they're gonna have to re-tool that piece at some point. That dell tablet is off the market. They really backed themselves into a corner with that design.

The inability to get the Maestro is why I went with a FTDX101D which I really like....

Man, I'm mixed in my opinion of the Maestro. It's a super nice piece of gear, but I think Flex has backed themselves in a corner by using an off-the-shelf windows tablet as the base of the whole thing. So - that hardware can't really be upgraded, and as that specific tablet is out of production..... Aside from that, I LOVE the thing, but I just don't really have a use case for it, for me. I doubt I'm ever going to sit in the living room and talk on the radio.

Also if you buy a FTDX10, it is cheaper than the Maestro and it is a full fantasic radio, not only a console.
