You have a brand new girlfriend. You met her just by chance and she seemed a bit odd but endearing. The kind of girl who gave you puppy dog eyes and seemed to perk up whenever you spoke to her. She was cute.
When she asked you out you didn't know her well but decided to give her a chance. She seemed nice enough! Perhaps a little clingy and off around others. But still, you wanted to give a relationship a shot.
You soon learned what she was- how she was- and you wanted to give her the benefit of the doubt and a fighting chance at being in a healthy, normal relationship. As long as she respected your space and time.
She has her hiccups, but generally speaking, she is doing well with the adjustments- like any good relationship! You were proud of her efforts. You became busier than usual however and found it a good opportunity to see her progress...
But on the last day, you find her on the sidewalk, anxiously waiting and looking around the crowds of people until she locks eyes with you...
Except...she looks...desperate. Lonely even.

I decided to do a take on a softer, more realistic yandere character. Someone who is obsessive but NOT psychotic, and realizes that fact about herself. And a healthy partner willing to work with those flaws and offer a healthy lifestyle- with some work. This is a fresh, new relationship with these things in mind. It's a different take, but one I could get behind and understand better.

I mean she says she doesn't understand some feelings between her mother and father, or why people act a certain way and may even be tricking/manipulating the listener into doing what she wants. All kinda points to psychopath, after all only very few psychopaths actually go around killing people willy nilly, in their head they are the only thing that matters. The matter up for debate is whether they can fall in love, I personally think they can.

Just to clarify psychopaths can't feel empathy and some other emotions which explains my first evidence to why she might be a psychopath, another thing is also they tend to be very charismatic and good at fooling others into thinking they aren't a psychopath. Sociopaths aren't as charismatic though.

Now *these* are my favorite kinds of yanderes; people who have obsessive feelings for the people they love, but are self-reliant on that fact and are trying their best to give their loved ones respect. It’s very wholesome, sweet, and shows how people with mental health issues can not only be better, but find love and companionship. Speaking of; if you want some help depicting these characters Lyn, I suggest looking up Love Obsessive Disorder, Dependent Personality Disorder, and other personality disorders. I found out about them them up while researching personality disorders for a yandere OC, and I find they are really good at depicting realistic yanderes who aren’t just psychopaths/sociopaths with a crush.
