Nice! Next time soak in the baking soda only and rinse in the ACV. Then rinse out the ACV. Alkaline - acidic and neutralizer. The baking soda is high alkaline. The ACV neutralizes the PH. 4 months of not washing your hair is pretty nasty to say the least. I would wash with Baking soda once a week - not soak. I would soak in baking soda once a month and neutralize with ACV after the soak. But to each his own I guess. But your right, the hair feels so light, fresh and clean after. It should always feel that way though ya dig? Also I wouldn't put anything else in my hair- ever. Maybe some coconut oil on my scalp and roots the day before washing. And as others have said, the wash basins are clutch but don't last long. peace -

My hair is wavy/slightly curly. My "hair type" is between 2b to 3b depending on length and care. I wash and condition my hair almost every day. Afterwards I mix Argan and Jojoba oil as a leave in. When I was little my mom didn't know what to do with my hair because she has slick, can-barely-hold-a-permed-curl straight hair. All she ever told me was to brush my hair. All the time, she'd say I look like a little crazy person, that my hair was a mess, and that I needed to brush it. And she would often cut my hair, keep it short so it didn't look "messy". She didn't know any better, she didn't know that she was doing the exact opposite of what you're supposed to do with curly hair.... Anywho... I've only had to deal with hair curlier than mine once. I sat on the floor with my neighbor's baby/my goddaughter between my legs and proceeded to use "pink lotion" to twirl each individual, tiny, 3c-4a curl around my fingertip. To many it would seem logical to help define the curl by twirling it that way... but to me, at 19 years old, it was the first time I'd ever done it. Her mom had to show me how and explain why we didn't just leave it "messy" and unbrushed, or "messy" and brushed. I only knew of two ways to deal with my curly hair: straightening it, or brushing it while it was sopping wet and leaving it alone to become wild frizzy. Anywho... I explain all of that to give anyone willing to answer my question an idea of where I am coming from: It never occurred to me before that someone would go more than 2-3 days with out washing their hair, but having watched a few videos about locs, they all mention much longer periods of time between washings. Do these months in between washings refer to the detox washings, or regular shampoo washings? CAN you use shampoo to wash locs? How often should locks be washed? If my questions have been answered elsewhere, or in a video, please let me know.
@NessaShani5 жыл бұрын
thank you for your questions. the months in between refer to both detox & regular shampoo washings. in my experience, you would wait longer for detox washings, such as the ACV rinse, than regular washings. i aim to wash my hair once a month, but sometimes i wait longer. some people use shampoo to wash locs, others don’t. i usually use both shampoo & conditioner to wash my locs. however, on my most recent wash day (not recent video) i only used shampoo to wash my hair & essentials oils to moisturize it after. it all depends on your preference & how your hair reacts to certain products. locs should be washed as needed. it’s important to listen to your hair & recognize when it’s time for a wash.
@gfermin16235 жыл бұрын
@@NessaShani Thank you for the quick reply! That explains a lot! As for listening to one's hair... If you use shampoo and/or conditioner if can create buildup inside the dreads (or even on normal hair) the baking soda/ apple cider vinegar mix breaks down the buildup. I even use just acv to rinse out Dr.Bronners Castile soap. Just a couple tablespoons mixed with water. Jojoba oil or a similar sebum matching oil works well to get it soft again
