Sweetwater - Adrian Belew Signature Parker Fly demonstration

FYI, whatever you get, Sweetwater is a great company to deal with. They are the only company that will do a complementary or free set-up of your guitar and quality check before it is sent out to you. I have purchased guitars and amps from them and their service is second to none. They are based in Indiana and I live in Cincinnati so if I had any real problems, I could just drive there and they could take care of them. Not that I'd ever had any. They even send a few pieces of candy with every order.

It has Line 6 Variax guitars in it and it's an extremely good upgrade.

@Gregorypeckory I'm not disparaging Parker's fine instruments because the first time I tried a Fly out, it was total magic! It's just too bad that I couldn't fork over the $1000 to buy it! As far as the Belew model, I'm sure that it's an innovation, as are all of Ken Parker's instruments but for myself, I wouldn't pay THAT much for a guitar unless it was a vintage model or something....

You can buy 25 guitars, 1 for each of your desires, and a semi to haul them in. Tune all 25 after each use or set. OR, buy a USA, ABS Parker Fly and be the pro you expect of yourself. The choice seems simple.

Consider that the Vernon Reid model is $6k, has no sustainer, no Variax, only piezos and 13-pin MIDI, and the deal starts to not look so bad; you're only going to need one, so you can eliminate the roadie that tosses 'em to you. Adrian's latest rig is a Fractal Axe FX/pedalboard, supplemented with a laptop, a few volume pedals and Atomic powered cabs; an insane amount of firepower in a portable package doesn't come cheap.

Ya I saw him playing at the Island Music Fest this year and his guitar broke down right on stage. Poor guys power went out on his performance the evening before. After seeing his trem system break down on stage cant say it is worth 10 grand especially to have only to run into issues. Great sound and a very diverse guitar. Bring down the price and well talk!

i got a news flash for ya...ALL GUITARS ARE HAND MADE..there are no machines that "punch out complete guitars", all guitars from $90 ones to $10,000 ones have to be "hand made, as a matter of fact there is a video somewhere here on youtube that busts this myth

Expensive, I know, but the specs are crazier than you'd think. For example, the fretboard is carbon fiber. If anything, just get a different guitar. Plus, if you have ever played a parker, you would know why they are so expensive. They play so absolutely incredibly.

@lonzenator Or you could get the guitar $9000 and a Fractal Audio Axe-Fx $2000 with foot switch $800 and a powered wedge $800 and call it a day. Axe-Fx could get every sound he got out of that ridiculous rig and it's not even half the size of that. Hell it's not even as big as one of those Marshall cabs.

@garydupuis If you know how much players pay for brass instruments, contrabasses, violins, pianos, etc, you might think under $10K was a bargain for one of the most advanced electrics on the planet. But I plan to get a $3-5k Fly-this is just the top of the line model with tons of bells and whistles (literally?;). You can get a badass Fly for less than you might pay for an old car. Look into the many innovations Ken Parker put into it-frets that never wear, etc. It's worth a visit to his site.

ya this is like my dream guitar...freakin sustainiac , midi, even has a variax..and yet no knob clutter...AND ITS A PARKER!!! But....ya...like $9,000-$12,000 bucks....its not happening for me any time soon...*sigh* someday maybe... But anyways what amazing instruments!!! @audibleobsession $10K isn't that much for a great instrument-it's a lot for an electric solid body-but we guitarists are spoiled. Any horn player or string player would laugh at you for balking at spending that on an instrument-they've got way more invested in thier instruments. Also, the $10K is for everything, not just the extras-and you can easily spend 5k on a Fly deluxe. I'd rather have one than the whole list of gear you just mentioned. Buy something cheaper, and get what you pay for.

Too expensive for me. But when you consider that some people spend thousands on old, hardly playable strats just because they have the 'right' logo on the headstock, this would be a better option.

$8999 for guitar, $4500 for marshall stack, Roland processor $1400, roland foot controller $400, processor for the acoustic sounds, $699, mixer $649 (mackie), other modules $5000 (dep). So to get the full effect of this guitar you are going to spend $20,000 minimum. Ouch. You can not use the midi functions w/out some type of converter. Roland is the only converter system and you have to buy a foot controller separate. IT sounds incredible, but what musician, besides Adrian Belew can afford it?

@audibleobsession Apples and oranges-cars, guitars, Ebow, etc. Look at what other instruments go for and you'll discover how spoiled guitarists are. So many casual players have 5-10 guitars, while world class violinists often have one instrument-worth 100-500 grand. You don't want it-fine, but your list means nothing. Anyway, I'd rather have a guitar that helps my chops than a fast car.
