Currently I have an interface to record my drums. If I had a Presonus, would I get my playback from the mini jack output from my PC (ProTools) and put them into a channel on the mixer for playback monitoring? And then send the channels drum inputs via USB to ProTools?

hey...i just want to know...like, if i record a voice in channel 1 and going to record another voice with the same microphone in the same channel but in a different track ..thats a problem? im going to have problems with the mixing like when i turn up the volume does it turns up in all "channel 1" that i assign in the DAW?

wait so say you have a session in Pt open like he does. if you move a fader on the presonus, will the movement be registered in Pt? basicly can you use the presonus to control the channel levels in PT? or is it just an interface?

Benjamin Jayko No, it's just an interface. Basically the faders kind of act as the gain knob on a regular tabletop or rackmount audio interface.

I see this video was done in 2011. It’s 2019 and I went to possibly purchase this and I see it only has usb and not the FireWire? Why did Presonus take a step back? I’m currently still running the person firestudio project and it’s been great but I’m wanting to bring in a hands on mixer.

@@sweetwater Hello. There is any Presonus mixer (e.g Studio Live III) that can be controlled by DAW? I am looking for a budget mixer with this feature and also with good preamps like xmax. From what I've found out so far, some mixers are not sending post fader signal to daw. Sometimes is very usefull to compress and eq before sending to daw. Latency is also another topic. Maybe the new Presonus mixers can handle all mentioned above.

No, it is not a DAW control surface except for the Presonus Capture and Virtual StudioLive programs. It does work great for those though and you can open StudioOne and import files recorded from Capture. I've worked a lot with Presonus products and they are awesome.

Yeah, it works best with their own software (Studio One is included) but if you are a Logic X user, the virtual faders in that DAW will not move along with each channel on your firewire connected board like they do with Studio One. Logic remote is ok, but I just use IP Touch on iPad. Anyhow, if you go to a digital board from analog, plan on reading some manual.
