Great video! Just curious to know, how do we go about setting a Wet Dry rig based around the IR-200? Can we set two different amp simulations on stereo outs, like we can for the cabs?
@sweetwater3 жыл бұрын
Hi, Shashank. The IR-200 will only model one amp at a time so if you want to do a Wet/Dry setup, you would actually need two of them. That way you'd have an amp with cab sims for your wet signal and another one for your dry, so the same as if you were using real amps. Thanks for your interest! *I'm always critical of pricing, but every year we get a new dump of processors from the brands, Boss always has the best reviews and demos especially for the cost of their budget ended models.* I'm an amateur engineer since I went to college for the science but didn't quite finish the degree, but it's typical that Boss products are what I'm in pursuit of developing through pure analog, Class-A circuit topologies designed from the ground up. *If I were ever in a position to get a sponsorship regardless of manufacturing my own equipment and mass commercial marketing of it, I would still sign on the line with Boss.* I still prefer analog and with that, a tube thrown in at the end of the chain really "purifies" the output signal, *but I also know semiconductors can do the same only better, but nobody bothers.* It's always about mfr. costs and marketing when it comes to selling gear worldwide. *Anyway, as someone that uses very little effects, this unit represents my desires in my own gear aside from gear I buy.* Gain models, speaker and cab models, some reverbs and on occasion, some delay is about all I personally use.

@sweetwater4 ай бұрын
Hi, kevsfridaynightlive9103. The IR200 makes a great pedalboard amp/cab modeling solution. That said, if you want to run from that into a standard guitar cab, you’ll need a power amp somewhere in that setup. Since the IR200 has cab modeling in it already, the most common solution is a powered FRFR cab. We have many options for those to check out: www.sweetwater.com/c624--FRFR_Guitar_Amp_Cabinets Thanks for your interest! @sweetwater3 жыл бұрын
Hi, Steve! Thanks for your message, hope you're well and safe. A giveaway that the IR-200 isn't an attenuator or load box is the AC adapter. You can use it with both. Use a FRFR when Amp and Cab sim are turned on in the pedal. Use a regular Cabinet when you have a transparent power amp and cab sim off in the pedal, in this scenario you would be using the pedal as a preamp.

The Iridium is so overrated vs something like Simplifier Deluxe. Now this latest Boss offering is the not much more than a GTK/GtCore with the effects stripped out, and a smaller selection of their mediocre sounding amps (I own a GTK). Much better options out there for similar money.
@thisperfectworld3 жыл бұрын
Such as?
@matthewdortona2373 жыл бұрын
Let's see........as I noted above the Simplifier Deluxe, the Stomp, the assorted NUX, and Hotone offerings, even the old Tech 21 original Sansamp. Some may or may not have as many bells and whistles however, but they sound more like the amps they are modeling.
@matthewdortona2373 жыл бұрын
The Simplifier Deluxe expands on the original. Has three models (Nice Blackface era Fender, a Marshall, and a Vox). All analogue, has controls for mic, cab and power amps for both channels, efx loop, and quite a few other things. At least from what I heard on YT and experienced with the Simplifier, there is no comparison vs the Strymon box.
@matthewdortona2373 жыл бұрын
The Simplifier and the GT are different animals. The most obvious is the GT being all digital and the Simplifier analogue (except the Simplifier’s reverb which is digital). Obviously the GT has more options vs the Simplifier. I have a GT1000 and the amps do not sound like their name sakes (eg the Brit Stack does not sound like any Plexi or JCM 800 I’ve ever played). They can sound good but much tweaking is required, for which I have no desire nor do I need more than five amp models. I would suggest that you give both a try and see what sounds best to you.
@StratsRUs Жыл бұрын
The GT1000 Core is great. The amps certainly are not mediocre. I also have a Helix Floor , other multi FX , stacks of pedals and 6 tube amps. The little GT1000Core is a heavy hitter. One set of discerning ears is all you need.

Liked the video.....What you need to do specifically with pedals like these is essentially just state why they are better than a Strymon Iridium...that is, if they are. Now, I've never played through an iridium, but apparently it's the be all end all for direct performances....it's on just about every pedalboard that plays direct to house. I use a Nux Solid Studio, and it works just fine for me....but for some reason, everyone says I need to get an iridium (by everyone, I mean just about all KZbin worship guitar influencers, as well as the voices in my head) So.....why is this better than an iridium....especially since it's the same price?
