So funny how they don’t say the actual names of the instruments...if anyone is worried about copyrights, those companies need to actually do something with their properties.

There is a guy on youtube that built the thing into a really nice, 1960's style casing and added a 61-key keyboard, an amp and proper speakers. It is a massive project but he turned that little synth into a beautiful instrument.

@@JH-lo9ut That’s an excellent video, this thing is cool the way it is, but I think I would like a mod that allows the user to send the aux input through the effects, which all sound great and are nicely laid out on the panel.

Are they contractually obligated not to say Rhoads and Wurlitzer?
@alanduncan19809 ай бұрын
I doubt it. They just choose to be ridiculous. Maybe they have actual Rhodes pianos that they want to sell because they're more expensive, so they don't want to advertise the Yamaha as being capable of sounding like a Rhodes, even though that's exactly what it does and it really should be mentioned that it has the classic Rhodes / Wurly sounds.
@Klufravan5 ай бұрын
You have this with many simulations of these two. I came across "Roads" or "Worli" names. So I think it's still a trademark issue.
@JeremyRobberechtsАй бұрын
Yes. That’s a trademark kind of thing. They can’t advertise having a Rhodes sound, because the name “Rhodes” is owned by another company who wouldn’t want their intellectual property to be associated with a product that is not one of their own. It makes sense if you imagine a fictional manufacturer saying they have a Rhodes patch in their keyboards, and the patch sounds like garbage, it would be misleading and give the impression that it’s just what a Rhodes sounds like. Now, I’m sure anyone who is not representing Yamaha can freely go ahead and say it out loud 😁 (but these two chaps here represent Yamaha if I recall correctly).

Can it play lower octaves and sound like organ pedals or like a Fender Rhodes Bass Piano? I love playing my bass for fun, but at my age, the poor ergonomics of playing a bass guitar are just wreaking havoc on my hands, wrists forearms and shoulders and back. I'd like to try something different before I give up on music completely, but I'm very partial to bass and anything with a vintage vibe.

Hi skybluemarshall. The Reface-series keyboards have Octave sliders on the front panel, allowing you to play bass notes in the style of that keyboard. -_Daniel_

I've recently bought one of these and I really like it, but there are one or two odd design choices. Even these guys seem a little apologetic about the toy piano sound, and it does seem to be the odd one out - almost a novelty afterthought. I know the "hidden" acoustic piano sound was only intended to be used for testing purposes, but it really isn't bad and it's a shame it's a fiddle to access it. I'd much prefer that to have taken the place of the toy piano setting on the dial - ideally as an upgraded version that Yamaha were a little more proud of, although I guess the limited compute power of this keyboard is probably a factor in being able to reproduce a top-quality grand piano sound.

Is there a looper, too? If not. Why does not Yamaha licence a proper looper technology from Phil Tipping? Sequetron by Phil Tipping is a phenomenal looper, so contact Phil and check if you can license this original technology? All reface users who do not want to wait for Yamaha licensing or adding a powerful looper into reface, simply check Sequetron by Phil Tipping. It can force to scale, chords, held notes and much more, there is nothing like it I know. Vangelis and Tangerine Dreamers will love it.

Hi kdgfg, while you certainly can play keys through a guitar amp (especially if you want the distortion), you'll get a much more high-fidelity sound from a dedicated keyboard amp or full-range PA speakers. In this video you're hearing the Reface Audio Outs combined with a mixer and then sent directly to the video camera Audio Ins. Thanks for watching!

It meant to be modular synth at first, but they decided later to give it a keyboard. You can plug a midi keyboard with the feeling u like the best (so you ll have a great synth + keyboard for about 600$) and you can just take you yamaha CP by itself and play it anywhere with bateries... So, this to me is not a fail !
@Roboprogs7 жыл бұрын
It (these) need a 2nd USB plug where the module acts as a host for an external USB MIDI controller.
@TooSlowTube7 жыл бұрын
+Roboprogs, Good point. I don't use USB MIDI by choice, but If I did, I'd definitely want it to be controllable by a USB MIDI controller. They also need proper 5 pin DIN MIDI In and Out sockets, instead of being forced to use a crappy little adapter cable that I know I'll lose or break, then have to re-buy periodically at a ridiculous Yamaha accessory price.
@michaeldurrant84467 жыл бұрын
iConnectivity makes an awesome little unit that you can plug a USB hub into and connect up to 7 USB midi devices. I'm SUPER picky about latency and if this introduces any latency its nearly undetectable.
