Nick D'Virgilio shows off Zildjian's Sweet K series of cymbals. Enjoy the video, then check out the cymbals and other gear used in this video at the links below.
Zildjian’s K Sweet Cymbals add extra texture and a certain sonic moodiness to the K family of cymbals. Sweet K cymbals feature old-world hammering techniques and a refined lathing pattern to bring out each cymbal’s natural harmonic complexity. Fit for almost any genre and playing style, Zildjian K Sweet Cymbals will surely make a great addition to your kit.

The K Sweets sound amazing. And you're absolutely right. Bigger cymbals don't equate to louder. Your comment reminds me of a guitar player I used to jam with. I used to use 14" hi-hats. One day I took two 17" crashes and made them into hi-hats. When I told the guitarist what I did he scoffed and said "Oh great. Now you can be even louder." I laughed and said; "No, they're actually quieter and much warmer too." And that's what I was looking for. The warmth. The quieter part was nice too because that added a new dimension to my playing for softer songs because I'm just a naturally louder player. It's all about the science. On bigger cymbals sound waves have a longer path to travel, which in turn lowers the pitch and warms the sound. Again, great video, and awesome new product.

Very nice demo, and by showing all different styles of playing, you've shown how versatile those K's really are. I have several K's and love them. I use a dry ride 21", also a riveted heavy dry 22" cymbal, and hi hats 14" Session dry model. I find that k's can handle most settings. For higher end sounds, the Paiste or A Zildjians are a better choice I.M.O. And I also like several Sabian models. Great revue, professional all the way.

I just received my 5 pack last week. The hats are bit darker then my A Customs, but has a nice crisp bite and wash. The 19" is very loud, the 17" is beautiful, but I am partial to 17" crashes. The ride is perfect for any style of music, it has a great bell and a defining ping while riding, with the perfect little wash and overtone. This package will work for gospel, any form of rock, thrash, death or 80's metal. I would highly recommend the Sweet 16" & 18" and/or 17" & 18" K Fast crashes to compliment the package. Nick gives you what you need with diligence.

@@ezrashanti Yeah, the price isn't that much of an issue between the two, IMHO. As far as the Traditionals, I have a 20" Ride, and it's brighter that the Zs, but they're made of the Signature alloy, which has a higher copper content than the B20 (Zs and 602s).

Not the _best_ example of "house" music I've ever heard but... we get the point. They're very versatile cymbals. Probably the best overall _line_ of cymbals Zildjian has released in 30+ years. The K "Cluster" crashes are also really awesome, if perhaps a bit less versatile. Maybe it has something to do with the un-lathed bells. Who knows.
