This is fantastic... especially for those who simply like to drop their hands on the keys and play chord combinations. Instant movie scores! That's Korg for ya... they have the magic when it comes to creating musical instruments and I mean musical. Great demo by someone who knows well, melodic chord combinations and texturing.

Second Korg in a row I purchased after watching your demos ;) Monologue was the first one, and then this one now! This synth sounds incredible and it seems so versatile. The amount of sound shaping, sequencing, and processing that it allows, it is amazing! What a sound designer dream coming true. The randomising also it is just so cool too! Great work and thanks so much for sharing that amount of knowledge.

Hi Mike. That was a fun time to be selling keyboards! The Kurzweil K2000 had just come out, along with the Korg 01W and Wavestation. Yamaha had the SY and TG synths, E-MU had the Proteus modules, and samplers had finally moved from floppy only to floppy plus SCSI for storage.

Daniel Fisher is the best synth demo-er (and I am guessing a great keyboard player ). I love the other guys too, but he actually plays musical and creative stuff, which is really what it should be about and then he pulls out stuff from unknown places. His review in the latest Arturria Polybrute was heads and shoulders above what the other guys have done.
@sweetwater3 жыл бұрын
Wow! Thank you, ishta! Most of the time I just randomly pick a preset and decide what to play based on the preset's name. Surprisingly, we typically use most of those examples, and only throw away the ones where I completely fail to play something that works. I feel that it's a more honest representation of the product than cherry-picking only the best sounds, and then learning exactly how to play those sounds in the most flattering way. -_Daniel_

@sweetwater4 жыл бұрын
Thanks, Bill. I pretty much decide what I'm going to play based on the sound of the first note of each randomly selected preset, as I play it. If the sound reminds me of a favorite song, I might play that. Or, more often, I make something up as I'm playing and react to each note and chord as I'm playing it. This keeps me on my toes, and I feel that it's a more fair way of demonstrating a synth than to cherry pick the best sounds and prepare songs in advance to showcase them. Thanks for watching!

My only complaint is it’s not as tight when using kicks as Korg MicroX. Hope Korg will fix it in their future updates. Also wish it had a hold switch like on Novation Mininova and a 4 track sequencer like the Roland JDX-i. I always like Daniel’s demos, with Nick Batt and Loopop, those guys change the world 4ever. Great combo with R3 and MicroX MIDIed together.

Daniel Fisher is a synth master! All his demos are top notch. Something I noticed about this one in particular is that the sound quality is far superior on this demo compared with all the others I have listened to on KZbin (for the Wavestate). Would you mind sharing the audio path used to record this? Was it into a DI or straight into a line level input? Which preamp/AD converters? Whatever equipment and processing was used, it sounds fantastic, even through the KZbin compression and re-sampling. Perhaps you folks have figured out the magic formula to optimize for KZbin? :)
