@@oansun Not sure Don is using the Midi function on any of his boards. As far as a Delay or Modulation pedal that does a variety of sounds? I call that flexibility. My point is that Don doesn't have many pedals, but what he has are flexible. He also has the older Visual Sound Visual Volume. Don knows how to get the most out of what pedals he has.

Love this series! I have about 4 sounds, generally... A squeaky clean chorused 80s clean, a roaring Marshall-esque crunch (like a JCM800 loud enough to make your liver quiver LOL), a doomy fuzz tone, ala 'Master of Reality' era Sabbath, and a modern chugga-chugga tube screamer+Rectifier metal tone.

Great choices!! I'm running the Pugilist & MXR Echoplex myself, as well as the Fender Tre-Verb last in the chain. Get my compression from T-Rex or Keeley tho :) Pugilist is maybe the most underrated, value-for-money dirt pedal ever. It even does the Jimi "Cranked Marshall" thing, not just high-gain

These are nice pedal boards. My general "go jam or top 40 gig rig small pedal board is pretty simple: Boss Tuner > Tchula > Echoplexi > Rotoverb and out to a Hotrod Deluxe or other small combo. I keep a MXR octavio, a Hoof fuzz and Crybaby in my gig bag to add in front of the pedalboard, just in case.

Don, what are the settings you said you like on the XP Compressor?
@sweetwater
@sweetwater 4 жыл бұрын
I use the Xotic SP Compressor in the "Low" setting on the 3-way switch. I normally keep the Blend and Volume in the 1:00 - 1:30 range. For me, that's a slight volume boost and some of the unaffected signal still present. There are internal dip switches for Attack/Release Time, High Cut Filter, and Input Pad. I set those when I bought it, and I frankly don't remember if I ended up with anything outside of the stock settings. If anything, possibly a change in the Attack/Release times because I prefer a quicker attack. The Xotic owner's manual shines some light on the internal dip switches: xotic.us/wp-content/uploads/2019/06/SP_Compressor_manual.pdf And for more info on the Xotic SP Compressor pedal: www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/SP-Comp--xotic-sp-compressor-pedal Thanks for the interest, Matthew! @14:56 omg thank you for the thought, i run my volume pedal the same way so my swells have all my amp's distortion through the throw and to have that master volume function, but i never thought to be able to just have a quick simple cable change if i ever run into an amp i'm gonna use without an fx loop! I have a pretty complicated board that barely fits on a Temple 43" Trio, and that's with my amp's switcher, my wah, expression, volume, and this big Morley FX Blender, all 5 of those are on the ground in front of the board, makes things tedious to switch around, so suffice it to say when i look for what amps i might want to own, it not having an fx loop has always backed me away from wanting to like an amp...this makes me not so scared if i can rig it up to easily patch it into place if everything needs to go through the front! I always looked at it like, "well, i put myself in this corner, many options has its own intrinsic limitations, i'm not gonna wanna have to redo such a big board every time i wanna switch to an amp without a loop, so fx loops only," i now finally feel that sort of fear drifting off into the distance, haha! Makes me wanna test it out on the only amp i have without a loop, my little belt-clip Fender Mini Deluxe, lol!! A 30+ pedal board going into a fanny pack style amplifier, this might need to happen...for...science...or something...
