That's kinda how I've been operating in the past few months. I really, really want a job at the place where I'm doing my master's thesis so my plan has been to make everyone think of me as a permanent part of the staff. I've made friends, voiced my opinions in meetings, brought in cake, taken on extra assignments, distanced myself from the other students. Next step is to move out of the master students' room into an actual office. Hopefully, by the time I'm done with my master's, I will leave such a void that they have to hire me.

I didn’t watch the streamy’s this year as I watch a lot of small creators and have niche interests that wouldn’t get nominated or attend the event. i know this is an old comment, but if it helps, a great piece of advice i've heard is to think of networking less like "hey here's my business" and more like you're making new friends and telling them about something you're passionate about :) i heard that from a musician who had to frame networking as recommending a cool song to someone lol. basically, you're just trying to make friends within the industry and let them know what you do, and then if they happen to have opportunities for you down the line, cool! if not, you still have a new friend! hope that helps, from someone who also was terrified of networking for a while

Amanda, you don't nominate yourself, you submit your work! If it makes you fell less weird to do this, tell yourself that every single person who won a Grammy or an Oscar had to submit their work for those awards! Every years, labels submit their artists' work for different categories (if the artists want to... last year The Weeknd said he'd ask his label to not submit his work for Grammy anymore... don't know if he actually did it... is he nominated this year? I'd have to look this up). You don't have a label or a production company, so you have to do it yourself. But it's not weird and it's not pretentious, and you deserve to be nominated! Also, the voters (don't remember the actuel term for them) who vote for the Grammys and the Oscars receive packages from the people who submitted their works. Usually it's a physical copy of the album or the movie (depending on which award we're talking about), but actual gifts are sent with them... to a point that rules had to be made! (Because you're more inclined to vote for someone who gave you a bottle of Champagne Veuve Clicquot or a piece of jewelry from Cartier!). So, really, submit your work next year. Maybe you won't be nominated (even if you deserve to be), but you'd try and that's perfectly fine to want recognition from your hard work!
@desolationdiamond1736 Жыл бұрын
I’ve worked on awards shows but not the Streamys. In answer to your question at 17:00 on who picks the categories to be in the show, it’s highly likely that it was a co-decision between the awards team and the production team, consisting of producers and a director who have all been hired because they have experience running awards shows. On these bigger shows, the awards team, which I would assume is KZbin here , and production team tend to be separate. The awards team would be keeping track of who’s winning and obtaining the envelopes with the winner’s names. The production team would likely not know who the winners will be but are in charge of the show’s run time and order to a certain extent. Categories can get moved around based on who is coming and who the nominees are that have the biggest star draw. The producers are likely not young and super KZbin aware so there was most certainly debates behind the scenes on which categories are more desirable than others. They likely had a list with even more categories that were then nixed before the Streamys nominations even opened. The Department head of the Talent team which works under production would be responsible for confirming the talent that was coming and making sure they are where they are supposed to be. I would say it is highly likely the production team knew who would be there and who would not. All of this to say, things could be different since the Streamys are a digital awards show rather than a traditional one for cable.

I had FEMTO-LASIK surgery and I can't recommend it enough 😭 pre-op they give you numbing eye drops and sanitize (is that the right term?) your lids and the area around it, then you go into the OR and you lay down underneath the machine, the doctor will insert the forceps (?) that keep your eyes open and a tube like thing on your eyeball?? I couldn't see it I only felt it, then you just have to focus on the red flickering light until the doctor tells you it's over, you don't feel anything at all, the only terrifying thing is that when they lift your cornea flap everything goes dark and you can only see the flickering light 💀💀💀 Post-OP was really easy you just have to keep your eyes closed for the next 24 hours. What was uncomfortable in that period is that I felt a thick THICK hair in my eyeballs (which I assume is the cornea flap?) But that feeling vanished the very next morning Overall 10/10 experience
