When you mention these exercises and removing my leg from the brace? My doctor told me not to. I am on day 2. Haven’t slept this is terrible.

I had aggressive physio while in hospital and my knee was bent on a machine past the point of stretch, after my discharge my whole leg was swollen up massively, I have been doing a range of exercises set by my outpatient physio but as you said after a night in bed with elevation my knee is not too swollen and I can perform my exercise, but by the evening it has swollen so much I have hardly and flexion but my extention is pretty good, your advice has given me hope.. Thanks 😊

It is important to look into what exercises and volume of exercises you are doing. If that is continuously causing swelling that is not trending down, that can lead to more issues. If you would like to talk further about your case with me I’m happy to chat. Please email us at admin@theaclacademy.com

My daughter is 6 weeks post ACL and meniscus repair, her swelling has gone down tremendously, bit it is definitely still larger than thevother knee, she is at 120 degrees and does her exercises daily, weaning off crutches and brace. Should we try a compression sleeve? Your videos are great, I hate I JUST found them, but will be watching the rest of them for sure!

Hello. I have a question I am in week 3 post op and swelling is still there. How long did it take swelling to go down?

I’m 10 months post surgery and still have swelling on my knee. I use hot & cold ice packs daily to reduce the swelling. Is the swelling normal after ACL reconstruction surgery?

Do you take off your compression stuff while elevating the leg? Or keep it on all day?
@ronnieb73132 жыл бұрын
Very informative! I always thought the cold therapy was the most important part of reducing swelling.

appreciate the comment. elevation + compresion+ time off your feet

Hmmm. I dont know if it is right, my orthopedic doctor told me to exercise my knee and walk right up during the 1st week of my acl post op. Then told me to get off my crutches and dont use brace during my 2nd week. Now my knee feels like there is a lot of fluid. For reference, i can already bend my knee 90deg on days after the recovery. Problem is now on my 3rd-4th week of recovery the swelling is worse. Now, im already back to work and i sit all day. So my knee is always bend at 90 deg.

HI, question - I am 12 months post acl surgery and I am still getting swelling and that limits my full motion at times. What else can I do at this stage of recovery to control it, any help? thank you
@tuoimunt7407 Жыл бұрын
great video thank you! I'm now 13 weeks past surgery and my knee is still kinda swollen and I also lack range of motion and muscle activation (quads) and it also hurts and it's probably arthrogenic muscle inhibition which is mainly caused by swelling. recently my focus was just on range of motion and muscle activation but I guess I have to take a step back and work on my swelling.

What if your foot starts swelling 2.5 weeks after surgery?

Hey I have a question. It’s been 14 weeks since my surgery and my knee keeps swelling up after a workout. Any suggestions?

Could be that your are doing to much in therapy. Or maybe spending to much time on your feet outside of therapy. We would have to dive into the details and see how we can manage this. We want to control that swelling. If you would like to discuss further please reach out via email at admin@theaclacademy.com or on Instagram at acl_academy

What if surgeon says to weight bear the next day after surgery?

That was great, thank you. I'm on week 3 post surgery (both side meniscus repair and ACL using quad graft). I've had 2 physio sessions, 1 right after stitches came off. I had very little trouble bending knee to 90 degrees or straightening leg. I may be wrong, but it feels like I have more swelling after the 2 sessions. Is this OK? Should I pause physio? Should I take my prescribed antibiotics swelling pills again? Thank you again!

I’m on day 4 and my calf/shin is super swollen and so much pain is going to it when I stand … I’m doubling up the icing and raising my leg in bed

Is it normal to still get a bit of swelling 7 post surgery, when increasing loads and practice time ?
@ACLacademy Жыл бұрын
not necessarily normal, but dont know much about your case to say. if the knee is ready for those activities it shouldn't necessarily respond with swelling

Good day! I'm 3weeks post op ACL-R using hamstring graft. In my first 2 weeks I did some home exrcises given to me by my surgeon (quads and hams sets, heel slides and leg raises. The swelling in my knee is minimal but after the 2nd week i just woke up with an increase swelling in my knee and the pain worsen maybe due to the swelling. Also, I'm consistently icing and elevating my knee. It's been a week and I noticed that the swelling is not improving, should I be worried? My doctor gave me ARcoxia to help my swollen knee. My next check up is on June 5. But I'm really worried if I damaged my knee just by doing this exercises (I didn't feel any pain or I don't remember doing anything outside of what my doctor told me to do)

could be you did a little to much to fast. I would talk to your rehab specialist about this. We would be glad to help if you dont have anyone yet to handle your rehab. Admin@theaclacademy.com
