Now my daughter is 1.8 years old. We are using potty since she was around 10 months old. We have not trained anything to her. When she have urge to poop either she will react differently or she will tell us. So immediately we will transfer her to potty. Sometimes she will poop in panties itself and that's ok. Every 1 hour hour we used to make her sit on the potty to pass urine and she does. As per my knowledge, potty has to be used from 1 year itself so that baby won't have fear on seeing the potty.

Kids will take their own time actually. I have been trying to potty train my toddler since 1.5 years. But she wasnt ready back then. Now she is 3 yrs and she is potty and pee trained ( Daytime ). This journey is not easy but definitely possible. Things i followed Make them squat on bathroom floor with diaper and news paper underneath for few days. Once he is comfortable then remove diaper and make him poop on newspaper. Let him do this for a month. Meanwhile take him to washroom every hour for pee. And he would start saying he needs to pee in a few days. Once he learns that he has to pee and poop in toilet not in diaper, teach him to use the toilet with the toilet seat and stool. They cant process to many things at a time. So let him learn to pee and poop without diapers first then you can make him learn using the toilet. You can transition him easily to pooping in potty chain. But again transitioning them from potty chair to toilet will be very tedious. And that IKEA stool will help them overcome the fear of height. And its the best buy. Sending you lots of love in this Patience testing journey ❤ Also you can use a Diary or Notebook to give him a star whenever he accomplishes a Task be it potty training or learning something or eating without wasting food. . So they ll be motivated to get as many stars as they want.

I am mom of 2.3 years old girl.. I would suggest you to take him along with you to the bathroom and show him how we go and keep repeating it then he won't be scared of it.. My daughter is fully potty and pee trained at age of 2

I started potty training with my Son when he was nearly three. Reward stickers are great for us. Buy some stickers from the shop and keep them. Tell him that if you go potty to wee or poop, you will get a sticker. It does magic

Sis ur r right i also thought u wr late for potty training viyan. But since u said u hv reason its ok. All kids r not same. We dint do any training for my son. From 1.5 yrs we just casually introduced him the restroom saying thts the place for potty. We accompanied him saying we r here outside just 1 month. Then from next month itself he was used to it. Just small potty seat on toilet thats it. We just tried nd it worked out. So i think the early u practice them they wl be fine . Anyways love to viyanu❤

I remember my elder son's potty training... Same like vian, he use to cry... I Use to sit with him for hours.... Until 5 years he used to stand and do potty 🙄 I too felt I should have started earlier. As we are in Dubai, nobody told me to start it around an year. So I did a good job with my young son, and taught him earlier 😂
