SWFL Eagles ~ Bobblehead Bonkfest Begins! Equally Matched Messy E's wobble & duck! 😊 1.24.21

One day old E's are really equally matched and are seen engaging in a bobblehead bonk fest! The both are messy Marvins from the juicy fish that Harriet was feeding earlier as they wobble and duck and then collapse & rest before starting all over again lol 😊 Harriet and M are going to have their talons full this season with these two!! M arrives and offers some fish to Harriet to feed the kids. Harriet departs and M has to babysit. They are hilarious looking when M gets up and we see them both at 11:27. Thank you for watching!

It was an oh oh moment When I saw the long stick fall into the nest. Saw Harriet looking at it and knew she’d have move it...such a tidy house keeper. The E’s are so adorable and entertaining 💕 thank you LH for all your time & narration

GE Lady Hawk! Omg you just have to laugh at this footage😂. Normally we're a little worried about the younger one being two days younger and getting beat up but this time we're seeing evenly matched Eaglets pound for pound (ounce for ounce in this case) slugging it out for dominance. 18 gets some good smacks in there on 17 lol. Evenly matched it much more fair to watch instead of having to worry. I loved this almost dual feeding we got from Mom and Dad and Mom did take a few bites from Dad to feed the kids. The kids look hilarious all covered in that fish🐟goo at the end too. Mom comes over to brood at the end of a lovely 1st day and what a great end scap. Thanks LH! SEDs🌚🌙💜

Time out, time out! 1 day old! Where's the referee ? 🤩 Oh my I'm laughing but concerned they may injure eachother. Why why must they attack eachother, then they fall down exhausted to rest - only to start again! Look at their big tummies with no feathers ❤ they are so endearing. There was another nest, last year, I looked in on occasionally. 3 babies, virtually No Bonking. Is there something in Harriet's DNA that says "Bonking Non Stop from Day One"? Another bird question that'll never be answered..... I mean, I understand bonking as it pertains to feeding and status, BUT from DAY ONE!!!!! That's crazy.

I had the same wuestion. I follow an osprey nest here in CO....some seasons no one gets bonked, even if 3 chicks, then other seasons, bonking so bad I am surprised no injuries!

Also at first I thought, “this is very sad, why don’t the parents split up and feed them both?” Well, 1 i have seen the parents duel feed so I suppose they do it when they can. & 2 I believe as hard as it is for us to watch it’s actually quite important for them to be improving their ability to fight for food when they are on their own, when they are fending for themselves. Hopefully they will both leave the nest and be each other’s allies then when they need to be agents other eagle grownups. Just part of being an eagle 🦅

I guess, when they're hatched on the same day...both are equal in size. The more aggressive one (usually the oldest and biggest), bonks until the smaller one submits, or lies down. These two are equal opponents, so feeding is more of a challenge?
