Swift Caravan 2022 Models. Big changes, not all good?😲😩

Great vlog, I cancelled my 2022 sprite due to less equipment in it, especially not having the "command " Swift told me it was due to customer and dealer feedback that it was deleted, what a joke ! however I luckily managed to pick up a 2020 model and saved ££££s 😁

Great vlog mate. Glad to see I am still right. It's all about marketing, they sit in the boardroom coming up with ways to sell you less for more money. I agree they are using up spare parts. You made a great choice... I love your caravan.

Removing the Swift Command is a major down grade. We have it in our 2020 Base Camp 2. It’s brilliant especially the Bluetooth connection so I can operate everything from my phone and when away from the van. I’ve just checked the spec for the 2022 Base Camp and swift Command has been removed off that too. Also, Swift have downgraded the oven.

Well don’t know about the uk but prices in Ireland have gone through the roof wanted to upgrade our caravan but have decided to wait till next year see if the price comes back to normal enjoyed your video keep up the good work

I am hoping to buy my first caravan but just like you said the price of them here in Ireland is crazy. The exchange rate to the sterling is crippling also. I'm just gonna hold off till next year and see what way the market is going.

We originally ordered a 2022 dealer special based on the 2021 spec as we was told nothing would change. We then saw a video of the 2022 caravan and noticed the swift command had gone. Luckily the dealer let us change the order to a 2021 and saved over £1000. It’s madness to get rid of the swift command !

I fully agree, we are about to buy a 2023 Challenger 670 Grande SE and it comes with the basic panel, which I think looks crap! I’m a guy who loves Tech and the command box would have been fantastic from what I’ve read about it. For paying just over £36,000 this should have the latest extras, and just to really annoy customers, you couldn’t even have it fitted from factory! Swift really bolloxed this up! I have heard on the grapevine the new 2024 models will have a new style control panel, but apparently nothing like the Command, so don’t get too excited ….urghhh!

Hi Graham, same as you, we are really happy with our 2021 challenger and not so impressed with the 2022 and the lack of swift command. I really like the Conqueror but on the 580 model you get the full height fridge. This is an issue as you loose the TV shelf next to the door and we don't like it on the end by the front window. (fingers crossed the 645 makes a return as we can't go 8ft wide). We like the tranverse side bed and I have no problem getting past ( as a man of my age and i'm not a skinny chap,lol). the trick is to face the window as you go past, not the bed.

Good vlog Graham, as I have said I am looking to get back into caravanning, but I will wait as I think the bubble will burst and we will be back to a buyers market. When the people who have paid 20k for 2018 van find out they paid over the odds they'll not come back. I would rather do without than line the pockets off greedy dealers. There is a vlogger in Wolverhampton (second had dealer) and he's now talking about has the bubble burst. Regards Robert.

If I was looking at the Swift Elegance for £37,700 I would also consider the Coachman Laser XCEL range as well. That comes with E&P self levelling as standard, really nice as you get older.

Hi Graham Totally get what your saying 👍 We seem to have bought a swift push me pull you 🤣😅 We Have a 2013 swift eccles trekker twin axle 6 birth, now most insurers don't recognise it , most caravan deals don't know about it. Try finding a picture, impossible, the only one is ours from Highbridge on KZbin. Now bare in mind it's 2013 it has the full lux pack , outside bbq, door flyscreen , solar panel, etc, but also the new 🤣 2022 control panel. 👌 We gave 13k thinking 🤔 now we got a brammer of a deal 😅🤣🤩😁

Seems like a backwards move to me, put lower spec in and charge more 🤔 The Swift command looks a good system but I have heard a few people have problems with it. I think you had a good deal with your van and seems the better option for you. Are you using a different camera? Picture quality looks sharper 🤔

The trend of removing useful stuff seems to have continued in the ever more expensive 2023 Swift modes eg access to front lockers now only by lifting cushions ……elegance luxury but still no heated mirrors in bathrooms so they steam up with shower and are unusable…..why not fix an obvious issue and the island bed is wrong way round to be able to see out front of caravan as hidden behind kitchen side ….do these designers actually go caravanning 🤷‍♂️

Actually thinking about a swift challenger x for next year. More than a bit miffed that they have basically downgraded them. Off to see one at MG in a couple of weeks but the way the pricing is going, when you have to add ATC and motor mover may take it beyond us tbh

Other than command which I don't want, what are the downgrades. If you want to point out a major mistake to swift, we are buying challenger 560 which has 6'3" bed (I'm 6'4") other bigger challenger models have 6'1" bed. Now to me that is crazy.

Just curious... you say you wouldn't want a caravan because it isn't twin axle, but don't explain why. We've owned twin and single and never really noticed what difference the twin made, other than more tyres to replace, more expensive motor movers and more trouble levelling and some insurance companies want Alko locks on both axles.

We've just ordered an Adria Tiber, single axle, big fridge, longer than a similar Swift, bigger payload, free plate upgrade on top, and 3 grand cheaper. Just need to flog the old van (kids don't want to sleep with the parents, apparently I snore, I think it's the dogs), and sell a kidney to buy the new one. When did entry level vans start to cost over 20 grand? To replace our old van with a new equivalent would cost 50% more than we paid a few years ago!

We ordered a 2020 Challenger X 835 dealer special at the NEC which got delayed. We finally got a 2021 model for the agreed price. We could have got much more for our old van but felt the overall price to change the van was now an absolute bargain. Looking at the 2022 models I’m so pleased things worked out the way they did for us as due to impending retirement, the new van is a keeper. One thing that puzzles me is the E&P level system being an optional extra. Have swift secured a special price for the system?

Thanks for watching. Strange that Swift have just now started "offering" E&P as an option, as you could always just add it yourself. Much like the Aircon I guess, when we ordered our Swift you could add aircon as an option. But it's done by the dealer, not at the factory like ATC. I doubt it's a better price, as I assume like the aircon it's a dealer fitted option and the aircon we purchased was the same price as anywhere else..

Massive downgrade combined with a £4K -£5K increase in prices on the mid range Challenger is a big turn off for me. We've had Swifts for years, but they are becoming stale and boring with their new offerings at a time when Bailey, Elddis and Coachman are turning out some real head turners! Glad we upsized to a 2021 Swift Challenger 560 when we did (before the downgrade and huge price hikes), because we certainly wouldn't even entertain the idea of changing our caravan now ... well not to another Swift anyway! If the Swift Command downgrade was old stock, component supply shortages or just cost saving, then why wasn't it rolled out on the Sprite range? Why a mid-range caravan? Just sounds like a step to cut bill of material costs, increase prices and make massive profit margins to cynical old me.

Command going is good IMHO. Hate it. Had it on a 17 Conqueror and current 18 Elegance. Not intuitive in any way. As for the range changes ... bonkers ... no single axle Elegance models so I'm out as I can't accommodate a twin on my drive. Conqueror ... no .... decor is awful. Really dissappointed. Had hoped to change for 22. If only friendly dealer sold Coachman!

Was a bit gutted with the swift command going missing, have ordered the 2022 sprite for next year. Mainly due there being no guarantee I could find a 2021 model and the dealership sold a 2018 for 20k !!

We have done the same mate might as well pay a little more for a new van with the warranty’s but gutted about not having the swift command maybe it’s a blessing in disguise i bet if the system goes down it’s costly.

I don’t like the swift command system at all. It is too complicated. Why do you need to control the fridge from the command system when you can do it on fridge itself? Likewise with the heating. If you like tech gadgets then you’ll miss it but for most people, they will be glad it’s gone

As you say you can control the fridge from the fridge and the command, which is a bit silly. it's slow, the phone app is rubbish. I just like tech stuff, which is why I thought I'd really like it. They just need to make it better OR give people a choice...

Graham I think prices have gone bonkers of late. Be interesting to see what may happen when some of the “Covid Caravaners “ go back to holidaying as they did pre Covid, a glut of used tourers hit the forecourts. Thankfully some of the new Caravaners will realise what a blast Caravanning is.

If you want to do a comparison of models 2021 bs 2022 that would be great and appreciated but this video just seems moan aimed at Swift for changing and improving. Check out the global semiconductor issue, May explain the need to downgrade the Command Panel.

Thanks for watching. Yep, I'm aware of that issue and I did mention it in the vlog. You make a valid point. It sounds like moaning, but it's my attempt at "comedy" I put comedy in speech marks, as not everyone appreciates it. I don't want to explain to viewers why Swift have increased prices, or justify for Swift what they've done, in fact, I don't actually know why they've increased prices and downgraded the spec. If Swift told my, I'd pass on the information gladly...

There isn’t over capacity in the market. The manufacturers make the same amount of caravans every year. The bubble has burst. Now foreign holidays are now back there will be a scramble on the horizon to offload brand new caravans in Q2 2022. Grahams vlog has highlighted just how Greedy Swift have become. To that end , all the others are just the same. This isn’t Brexit it’s Great British Greed.
