Clearly you did not read your contract before signing on as a lease operator. The biggest problem is that you want to be treated as an employee but you want to be a business owner. Swift is in business to make money. You are not their employee. You are not their friend. You are a lease operator, a business owner. At some point, you’ll see that others are making it. Learn from them. Even if you’ve been a great truck driver hope 10-11 years, that doesn’t make you a good business owner.

Giving drivers a 5 cent discount is basically saying I'd pay you less if I could. Some people would say get your own fuel card, but that opens up a whole other set of headaches. I can either be a good guy and tell you how wonderful you are or I can be the bad guy and tell you where you are going wrong. As you already expect I will be the bad guy and tell you where you are wrong. You can’t talk or bash a company and expect them to treat you like a king because things are not going as you want. By now you have worked for several companies and all have an idea of who you are: note that they make a notation on your profile. Also your channel is also a marking of who you are and you come across negatively. Whichever company you go to, they will put you in the bad batch section. At Swift, after today you can forget about making it right - once wrong it is for good. Have you ever thought about keeping your mouth shut, do the hard work, stop complaining and stop publicizing internal companies matters and see how that goes for you. So far what you are doing is not working and will not work. I want you to do well but your character, your personality is a huge issue. Although the market is not so good there are people making a killing.

Companies won't scrap their lease programs, because they are making money from it. You are making the payments for their truck, and you’ve got to take care of all the repairs. Worse, you are depending on them for miles. As far as being a mentor, you probably will get miles. Especially when you start teaming. But, do you really want a new person driving "your" truck? And yes, their model is to screw drivers. They don't care about your money; just theirs. Sorry about your experience.

That’s exactly what I heard from the planners when I was there. You call and call and there’s nothing for days or what you get it’s laughable. Like 100 miles for pennies bucks kinda junk. They had me sit at the terminal in PA for 7 days. They couldn’t find anything. I was roasting in the truck in 100 degree weather. I’m not sure how swift is on the company side, I doubt they’re terrible considering they’ve been around as long as they have, but on the lease side it wasn’t great for me. I know they’re very picky on how many jobs you’ve had or any incidents.
