I've been playing for a long time but I have always been bad at playing by ears, so i watched this video, and knowing my chords I was able to sing and play the entire song before the video was over. lol. Well done!

I'm almost a year into learning guitar, and I wanted to let you know how much I've learned from you. No one else on KZbin seems to have the accuracy of notes as well as the clarity of teaching and putting things together. I always look to your channel first because I know you have the ear and take the time to make things exact. I'm wondering if you could do a video on "Let Love Rule" by Lenny Kravitz. No one seems to have the proper chords or strumming pattern put together well for learning. You could eventually follow it up with a guitar cover of the sax solo if you wanted too😉.

Rob, I notice you consistently use a 4 finger G chord instead of the traditional 3. Wouldn’t keeping the B string open instead of making it a D sound better on certain songs? Thanks for all your videos.
@swiftlessons2 жыл бұрын
Hey Rob, yeah, some songs definitely call for the open b string, especially if it’s a finger picking tune that includes a suspended melody. It’s really a matter of preference, so do whichever you feel best serves the song.

I love all your Guitar lessons. Can you please do a Guitar Lesson of Elvis Suspicious Minds?

Wish you would put the next chord to be played. Then we can play along with you. Love your format, this would be a great improvement. Have you considered any Kid Rock toons? Nobody has any up in your format.

@swiftlessons3 жыл бұрын
Hey Bill, I don't have a sponsorship with Rode, or any other microphone company, I just like giving away gear, and it's a great tax deduction for me. On youtube, sponsorships need to be declared, in which case, you would see a prompt on the bottom of the video window indicating it's a sponsored video. - Rob

actually tabs are not exactly accurate, you play open strings upstrokes beetween chords :), that’s what confused me, it has more dynamic sound thanks to it, nice :)

@ianwilliams17893 жыл бұрын
You're not in the right key, which should be Eb, and your chords are also misinterpreted!
@tannakaobi13 жыл бұрын
This guy tends to just teach songs for casual performing rather than how they were recorded.
@ianwilliams17893 жыл бұрын
@@tannakaobi1 Ok, thanks. The danger is that if you work with other musicians, they often learn the sounds in the written key, especially if there's guitar solo involved.
@swiftlessons3 жыл бұрын
Hey Ian, this is a beginner friendly version, so I went with D major to avoid any bar chords, of course you can place a capo on fret 1 to play in the original key. As for the chords, it may sound like the progression is a 1.6.4.5, but if you listen to the original track, the guitar comes in during the instrumental section, and you can clearly hear that it sticks to the 1.4.5.
@swiftlessons3 жыл бұрын
Worth noting the bass is playing a 1.6.4.5, so let's call the Cm (Bm in key of D) an optional passing chord that buddy chose not to play.
@swiftlessons3 жыл бұрын
@@tannakaobi1 A mixture, I've done several lessons that are note for note break downs, but also many lessons on how to perform a tune solo with just your voice and acoustic guitar. These arrangements are especially useful if you're playing bars coffee houses, open mics etc.
