They make a pretty good swim jig with a under spin blade.

Nice video, well presented. With this style of bait though I much prefer a standard weighted Swimbait hook. If you need more weight to get down deeper, just add nail weights to the body. Jigs seem to tear the crap out of the bait after a few good size fish requiring more frequent repairs that compromise the effectiveness of the bait after a while; the baits with a jig are also more effective with a trailing treble stinger which seems less important when using Swimbait hooks. Just my opinion.

I'm up in Toronto Ontario Canada and I've been absolutely hammering our BIG Northerns on the magdraft especially in the late fall/winter when the big 38-44"/10-20+lb girls move up shallow chasing gizzard shad and feeding heavily before they get ready to spawn. Bombing this bait out in 10-25fow, letting it sink to bottom on slack line and slow rolling it 2-12" off bottom with the odd twitch/pause/jerk/rip gets it CHEWED. My only complaint is that they don't make a bigger version.

What jig head are you using, I need gove that a try. I've been rigging them on 8/0 3/4 oz weighted swimbait hook which does keep it down very well. Opens hook would b better for open areas.

1oz Jighead in the 6/0 - 8/0 size. Weights can be adjusted to suit different depths and cover.

@@MegabassAmerica I rig it with a 8/0 3/8oz Owner Beast twist lock . (Belly Weight). It works great even on Bull Reds and big Speckled Trout during the fall & winter months.

On the regular harness magdraft? They're decent and will fish fine but I upgrade them like I do almost every bait.

Honestly, I prefer the Chris Z knock off version, because I can fish it slow or fast. I can make it pop to the surface during a boil and get bit. IDK, why Megabass let Chris go, but they should have redesigned the Magdraft years ago with him. He left and made an upgraded version of the Magdraft with Bass Mafia. I'm sure the Megabass design team has been hearing Chris's ideas for years and just ignored them. More durable plastic and doesn't foul when sped up.

Why would you when using straight flourocarbon is superior in my opinion? It is less visible in the water to the fish, has better abrasion resistance, doesn't frey and discolor over time, and doesn't add an extra weak point of connection between you and the fish.

@@jrowinski82 because braid last 1-2 seasons for me floro I have to change every 2-3 months and braid is very versatile on rods where you throw different baits and can just change out a Leader to get the pound line you need on there rather than emptying your entire spool saves you a ton of money

@@fishinfrenzy2544 Who uses just one reel and rod to fish? You know that you can just swap the reel without having to un-spool all the line. I only re spool my reels with new line at the beginning at the season and it lasts until it is time to ice fish.

@@jrowinski82 ??? Never said 1 rod and reel I use about 7 set ups but still I don’t only throw 1 bait on each rod. For example a 7’5 heavy I will switch between frogs/ punching /flipping/ glide bait. A medium heavy I will sometimes throw a swimbait sometimes a jig,spinnerbait or some larger top waters…
